Jumpsuits & Rompers: not just child's play

Ever since the epic fail of my missing out twice on the romper from Kardashians for BEBE romper, I've been obsessing about trying to find a close alternative.  Don't get me wrong, I've got multiple rompers ranging from beach wear to casual workout wear with a hood and even the dressy halter kind.

I love rompers and jumpsuits.  It eliminates the worry of putting together separates!  It's not just for little kids anymore, the styles and so do the fabrics it comes it!  You can look chic with a jumpsuit for a youthful look--from a sporty french terry to a dressy night-time wear of silk or satin.  Alot of the brands are jumping the bandwagon of having the piece as part of their spring collection.

On Trend: colored jeans

It goes without saying, my style has totally gone off the reservation lately! lol. I've ventured off the path of clean and crisp, my normal white and black monochromatic signature look to experiment with the crazier side of the color wheel. I'm totally inlove with the season's trend of colored jeans and the red pair that I recently purchased is no exception!

Ever since I reached my mid 20s, I've opted out of wearing jeans alot.  In fact, I've increased my wear of leggings (which in itself is a faux pas, as they should never be used as a substitute for pants!) or dressier trousers and even just skirts and dresses.  I've grown accustomed to being more dressy just beacause of the nature of my work environment.
AE has an amazing assortment of colored jeans, ranging from these to yellow and pink even!  I chose these colors because I find that they work best with my existing wardrobe already.  Each of these pairs of jeans cost $49.50 (cdn) and certainly won't be breaking the bank!  I love the comfortable fit--not cutting off the circulation in my legs with the super skinnies.  It's just the right amount of tapering and I love the soft feel!

When it comes to trends, I find that it's best to spend less on an article of clothing and invest more in classics that can transcend one season.  Afterall, you don't want to be stuck with a very expensive trendy item that won't be as trendy the next year!

What trends did you get into?

On Trend: The Gladiator

Okay, so I'm not talking about some Russell Crow movie, nor will I be fighting in a Roman Coliseum somewhere lol.  I am talking about the trend that sweeped the fashion runways years back, the gladiator sandals.  It's not just any ol' gladiator style sandals, the knee-high Gladiator style sandals became a craze, showing up at Chanel '07 runway.

I am inlove with the gladiator sandals.  It is so ruggedly trendy.  It's an interesting take on the usual boring sandals, opting for a knee-length instead of stopping at the ankles.

It's a show-stopping pièce de résistance to an summer outfit.  It entices much like a sheer stocking or fishnet tights, you see bits of skin but it's caged as part of a sandal.

I was elated to find that Michael Kors brought the trend back with his version of the sandal..

I love love love it! I don't mind if it's not so much in trend right now lol.

Trends: Collar Necklaces

A trend to which I've been steering toward for jewelry is collar necklaces.  It's somewhat similar to bib necklaces except not so large and wide.  I love that if you're wearing a high neck, the jewelry makes the collar look more intricate.

Here's one I've recently seen that I abolsolutely love!

Fall Must-Have #2: Cape crusading..

It's almost fall, and with fall comes in every growing need to pick up the few 'essentials' that I use all fall/winter long to survive the gruesome weather...Yes, overly dramatic i know, but since Fall is my fave season, I can never resist when it rolls around and I get to check out the new trends and styles to add to my collection.

Enter Vanessa Bruno Cape...

I have been inlove with capes since I saw a cream cape on Victoria Beckham look so luxurious and cozy-looking.  It's not so much the expensive part of it, its the cozy feel that it portrays while looking tailored and polished.

Seen here in the cream version sported by Kristen Bell, paired with over-the-knee boots and jeans is the perfect fall outfit!

Trend: Seeing spots!

Lately i've noticed that i've started steering towards polka dots...I find it a fun alternative to stripes which i think i've overdone the last little bit.
