The Trendy Traveller: tips for travelling in style from the fashionably chic!

Since my mom is on a vacay, I thought it was a perfect topic for a blog...fashionable travel!

Those that know me well know that ever since I've been bitten by the travel bug, i am constantly itching to find the next destination to make the next stamp on my passport.  I love being able to travel and find new places to visit, or even just visit a favorite destination again.  Ever so often, even if I like to visit new places, my fave places to frequent are Vegas and New York.  The fact that they are different states with different weather temperatures, there's a slight difference in how one gets into the place.

When it comes to traveling, there is a fine line between looking disheveled but comfy and fashionably chic but just plain uncomfortable.  I've been in both situations, and I can say that there is a happy medium which, after many experiences, believe that I've reached.  It also helps taking a cue from the fashionable celebrities that not only do their celebrity thang but also travel for a living to do appearances for their work.  Who better to get tips from!? There is no denying--celebrities travel and they love to look good in case paparazzi show up with a few shots for the mags.

Three celebs I love to get tips from for travelling are Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Aniston and Victoria Beckham...Each celebrity with a different style, and each gives their own take on what it takes to be travelling in style...they only way they know how!

1.  Kim Kardashian - trendy chic!
The reality star hits the mark in my books when it comes to travel style.  She's always chic and always beautiful for the papps when they meet her at arrivals or departures to snap a few pics.  she never misses with her flawless style--always the fashionista, she hardly ever looks frumpy but still manages to  make her travel outfit look comfy!

Tips:
-Though skinny jeans/cargos or leggings may be the trendy travel wear, make sure that you at least wear a loose top so not everything is clinging on and making you feel uncomfortable!

-lovely boots -- utility boots flat to the ground, sky high heels or over-the-knees, fashion is key but always try to find something that's easy to slip off and slide back on for customs! =)

-nice medium sized bag to house all the important items like passport, wallet, sunglass case, (glasses case--if your me), a mineral spray *a must!* etc.

-glam squad--or if you don't have one, having a ziplock with the essential key makeup to touch up upon landing to look refreshed and at your best for any paps or even anyone that's meeting you at the airport!

2.  Victoria Beckham -- Taylored perfection!

Victoria Beckham is one of my style icons-- say what you will about her singing and time in the spice girls, but she is one fashionable lady!!! She always looks good in whatever she does, and rarely will you see a hair out of place!  Okay, her fashion may not always translate into comfy travel wear, but she still makes a mark in being a trendy traveller!

Tips:
-tailored pieces make your shape the best it can be, from a jacket to a blazer, it can take you from the aiport to a business meeting (which Ivanka Trump also suggests!)

-again, the bags! having a sensible-sized bag that fits what you need for a comfy travel!

-Extra clothes to change into/out of -- comfort during the flight is key!

-big framed glasses a la Audrey Hepburn to hide the lack of sleep during a flight!  You will be thankful for this if you're ever in a thirteen hour flight!

3.  Jennifer Aniston -- california cool chic!
She always looks california cool chic--casual classy.  I've seen countless number of pics of her in mags and online, from going to the set for her next movie or her former show Friends, to running errands about town and being shot by the papparazzi...She doesn't play by the hollywood rules to be over-dressed for a flight, yet she manages to look chic and comfy at the same time!

Tips:
-nice, comfy tops like racerbacks or boyfriend tees are good for travel

-a nice, well-fitting pair of jeans, like the boyfriend jeans or a straight leg cut.

-comfy jacket to get you through the colder flights and of course, a scarf!

-aviators to block the prying paparazzi lenses

In the end, it is really upto the person on what makes him/her comfortable the most in...I do know that one shouldn't totally look like a frumpy traveler just because it may be a 5 hour or even a 13 hour flight.  I've been to both being reasonably and practically dressed, there is no excuse for looking homeless when you travel.  It is my personal opinion that people should take pride in what they wear--even if they don't have the paparazzi following.

Inspiration in Elegance...loves!

October is two weeks away from being over, and the Holiday season is fast approaching.  How quickly time flies!  I am starting to look for Holiday Outfit inspiration for some up-coming holiday festivities.  One being the big to-do for Shaw company that I luckily get to attend with my bf every year, being that he's a loyal employee.

One inspiration I recently fell inlove with was from Victoria Beckham's book.  It was a Roberto Cavalli gown from 2005.

I love this gown...The pattern is simply gorgeous.  If you're thinking it must remind you of something, you are indeed correct! It resembles a porcelain vase! lol.

Ralph Lauren Blue Label: Capes & Ponchos

Capes have been a love of mine for awhile now.  I've been long searching for the perfect cape to include in my fall-winter warmth wardrobe.  I sooo loved the cream cape that Victoria Beckham wore in a papparazzi pic...pure love.
Recently I've been seeing pics of Kim Kardashian sporting an array of Capes and Ponchos as well...I loved her recent one from Ralph Lauren, the Camel Coloured Cashmere Turtleneck Poncho--so beautiful! I decided to check out the website for other styles and ideas--it was heaven.  I forgot how much I loved RL Blue Label....Right up my alley of Equestrian fashion--my long gone fashion fave lol.

Here are some capes and ponchos I thought were too cute not to show!

That extra half an inch: insider's guide to fashion a la Victoria Beckham

Ever read that book by that spice girl who had a clothing line? lol.

I can only imagine what people think when they first come across a book written by Mrs. Beckham.

It certainly makes for an interesting thought--what she could possibly write about that would get the public clamoring for her book?

in the trenches

beats::

OOTD::

fave fashion accessory of the day/moment::

Okay, so quick entry here...

Does anyone know where to find a nice trench coat like what Victoria Beckham has here??

Okay so as usual I've been perusing the internet for fashion inspiration from celebrities when I found this one.  I have always loved black and white, even cream coloured clothing.  My wardrobe, in fact, usually has mostly these three shades.  It's sort of a staple in my closet when it comes to my basic go-to colours.

I fell inlove with this coat the moment I laid eyes on it.  OMG, it just screams luxury.  I know this is probably along the price range of about 4 to 5 digits so any cream coloured coat that this inspired would do the trick! I currently have a cream coat, well, 3 already...I just find that one of them has been so over-worn that it looks as if it needs replacing soon.  Like alot of my big purchases, I usually get abit picky about what I buy like my cream coat, leather bomber jacket even my down jacket for winter.  It's only right to be as diligent when replacing my fave baby, my coat (from Zara)!

Anyways, the search just gets harder now that summer is almost here...I'm hoping however, that my next get-away will provide me with an opportunity to get a replacement.  I think I've made my peace with replacing my coat lol.  It's now time to find another luv of my life--err a cream coat i mean haha.

Any ideas!?

a spice of inspiration for the bright white denim!~*

beats:: fly- vanessa camargo ft ja rule
outfit of the day:: Old Navy grey argyle cardigan & grey pants, white racerback and runners...
fave fashion accessory of the day/moment:: my coffee =) im wired.

Okay, so as far as my fashion idols go, here is one great outfit that's inspired me for spring.

Victoria Beckham has always been a source of inspiration for me for fashion.  Her style is clean and classic but uber trendy, I love that british fashionista that just seems to shine out of her at every event she's pictured in.

As far as those that stand out in my mind as being a fashion icon, she is one of them for me.  And it's not the runways and the events that catch my eye either.  When a celebrity is at a red-carpet event, whether for awards or openings and premieres, they have a team of stylists to make sure they are red-carpet, picture-perfect and smile ready for the paparazzi.

That's not style...at least, that's not their style.

I find that those celebrities that are out and about, living their regular lives and still maintain that fashion-worthy snap from the paparazzi, sometimes without even knowing it, are the ones that deserve the monicre, fashionista

When someone is able to pull an outfit together for a coffee run or errands around the city that makes you say 'I want that' then you know they've got fashion chops.  Everyone can look their best for a specific event, it's the everydayness that I'm more interested in....It comes down to whether they can be their own stylists in their everyday lives, much like all of us are!

So anyways, I got this from the internet, so the pic is not originally from me...I forgot the source but if you peruse the internet and google an image of her, you'll find it...

I absolutely L-O-V-E this outfit.  It embodies the cool westcoast feel of a spring night out. It's not really that I'm obsessed with her outfit, but the idea of the crisp look of white skinny jeans and a contrasting top that makes the whole outfit pop.  It's so chic and casual, yet sexy in it's own way.  The aviators is icing to the cake on this uber chic day-to-nite outfit.

two words...LOVEs It.
I know, I just can't say it enough...

I love that this outfit can be for a dinner night out or just a daytime lunch with friends.  Versatility is the key to my wardrobe these days, or at least it's my striving point in what clothes I buy.  I am not a busy person by nature, but there are days that seem to just go on forever, and from one event to the next, I need my outfit to fit into every place and occasion I'm going to in a flash.  As far as the white jeans are considered this season, they are a great trend I welcome, considering I also love white to begin with!

When it comes to casual chic, I have to admit, I don't always hit the mark. lol.

Anyways, so I recently bought my own pair of white jeans (yet to be altered lol) and while I'm not expecting to look exactly like Lady V (one can only dream! lol) I do take this as my main inspiration for how to dress up the white jeans for the spring and summer season!  Of course I bought mine for a steal! lol.  At the moment, I opted out of investing in a more expensive pair of jeans, since it's one of those that could get stained easily or destroyed in the wearing process over time.  I don't want to have to feel bad later on lol.  I got my pair of white jeans from Sirens for $29.50(CDN).  Though I do love the distressed & destroyed look on the jeans, since there's a possibility that I may end up wearing these said jeans to work, I chose the more conservative route...The one without the destroyed effect! lol.  Maybe down the road I'll pick up a pair of the destroyed ones, who knows.

under the sheaths!~*

beats::
outfit of the day:: fair isle cardigan, grey leggings and over-the-knee boots
fave fashion accessory of the day/moment:: hmm..i guess still the coach bag!?

* sidenote: i started this entry on tuesday...lol..if you're wondering about the next few lines*

Good morning All!

Happy Tuesday...lovely rain and sun mixed in with the winds...it's one of my least fave fashion days...It's simply not as easy to be fashionable during bad weather days!

Before I continue on, may I say that in my opinion, no one beats Lady V (aka Victoria Beckham) for the only celebrity I know that rocks the most fashionable sheath dresses!  She kicks up the traditional sheath dress to another level!

*Applause!*

With that being said, the sheath dress is a long staple for the businesswomen of the world.

Over the years, I've seen a new breath of life be given to the oh-so traditional sheath.  A few nips and tucks has revamped a conservative businesswoman dress into a piece that can transition from daytime meeting into night-time cocktail hour with the ladies!  I myself have a mini collection of these...It's one of my fave work-wear dresses! I think the style is so appealing because of it being so business-appropriate and sexy at the same time. It gives the woman the authority in the business world while knowing that she doesn't have to let go of her feminine allure to run the show!

Like I've mentioned, I've collected a few since I've started my last job.  Actually, I think I've always been into office wear cause when I wear it, it makes me feel sexy without revealing too much skin! One does not have to show alot of skin to look sexy in the office.  Also more importantly, one does not have to look frumpy to be taken seriously in the business world.

These lovely frocks come in all textures, lengths, embelishments and even prices! (The more embelishments you choose, the pricier it may become!) There are some nice ones out there right now for the new season...

BEBE
If you are on the trendy side but would like to look more business-like, then this is the place for you! They have some great trendy variations to the traditional dress...They have used cut-outs and ruffles, even floral fabrics to set their dresses apart.  There are some great ones that start at $148 (CDN).  I actually bought a black/grey/cream colour-block dress for about $112(CDN or $98.00 USD).  It's a V-neck on the top half with black and cream colours, and black skirt on the bottom half with grey and cream stripes.  If you are a fashionista in a business setting, then I'd urge you to check out BEBE.  It can unleash your inner sexpot without being to overtly sexual in the workplace!

Guess by Marciano
Okay, so this is verging on more party luxe dresses than actual workwear, but I've bought a dress or three in the past that I've actually pulled off for the workplace!  Actually, the dresses I've purchased in the past were more bandage sweater style dresses than structured cotton sheath dresses.  The one advantage the bandage style dress has in a sheath style is that it gives more movement.  The cotton/poly-cotton blend sheath doesn't have a lot of give when it's structure to be in a certain shape.  The sweater dress is knit, hence 'sweater dress' it has a feel of a sweater and therefore conforms to your body.  The only con? If you are a person that doesn't quite feel comfortable in revealing your shape with a sweater dress (cause trust me when it hugs, it clings on for dear life!) then you'd be better off with the former, which gives a certain allowance for shape-conscious women.

Zara
More traditional work-wear, but still quite affordable.  The dresses are more structured therefore it's a safe bet for work appropriateness...If you want to be sure the length, structure and overall business-worthy appeal are all appropriate, this is the place for you!

There are other less expensive retail stores that can give you the same dresses in a fraction of the price!  Stores such as suzy shier, sirens, urban behavior and forever 21 all have their version of the sheath dress.  In fact, I bought a dress from Sirens that I am glad to say, is very work appropriate and trendy-hot at the same time! it cost me around $20 at the time (too bad I only bought one in black, cause it came in different colours!)  Just be aware that sometimes cheaper may be a steal, but the proportions may not be up to snuff!  Afterall, you get what you pay for at times! Always try them on and make sure they are comfortable for you!

More often than not, I'd suggest investing in a dress that compliments you and makes you feel good, rather than opting for the cheaper version.  There are a few articles of work clothing that you can get away with buying at cheaper places, but the dress is not one of them....Especially if you want one that compliments you, not hinders..

As always, happy hunting for the perfect sheath!~*
