Spring 2012 Trend: Modern Romance

style.mtv.com
While Fashion week here is only a week away, I decided to return to fashion week's past to revisit the drool worthy atelier for the spring/summer 2012 season.  Since fashion is always a season (or two) ahead, I had to time-warp back to last year's show lol.

I recently saw the dress on the far left on the instyle website and thought it absolutely gorgeous! Not to say that going sheer wouldn't cause heads to turn *pause for effect* it certainly makes it romantic.

I love that we are going back to the more romantic times, being girly isn't so bad anymore!

Jumpsuits & Rompers: not just child's play

Ever since the epic fail of my missing out twice on the romper from Kardashians for BEBE romper, I've been obsessing about trying to find a close alternative.  Don't get me wrong, I've got multiple rompers ranging from beach wear to casual workout wear with a hood and even the dressy halter kind.

I love rompers and jumpsuits.  It eliminates the worry of putting together separates!  It's not just for little kids anymore, the styles and so do the fabrics it comes it!  You can look chic with a jumpsuit for a youthful look--from a sporty french terry to a dressy night-time wear of silk or satin.  Alot of the brands are jumping the bandwagon of having the piece as part of their spring collection.

Shoe of the Day!

As with everyone, I am looking forward to Spring--pastels and Easter weekend.

I can't wait for the rain to just dissepate already, having seen some sunshine the last couple of days as a teaser for what's to come.

I thought that with spring in mind, the shoe of the day should reflect my feeling of today.  Don't be fooled, it's ugly outside today especially for a friday!  I am just comforted by the fact that the sunny season is just around the corner.

I love that pastels are in this S/S 2012 season.  The laser cut-out with the peek-a-boo contrasting color is just too cute!  I personally love laser cut-out shoes having my own purchased from BEBE several seasons back.  It mimics the basket weave but allows for more patterns in an intricate manner that only a laser-cut can do.

I thought because I was talking about spring/summer shoe wear that I'd also post an honorable mention...

Colorblock Jumpsuit: loves it!

Awhile back I saw a pic of Olivia Wilde in a magazine--Loulou i think, wearing this ultra-gorg colorblock jumpsuit from Gucci.  I instantly fell inlove.  It's a splash of color you don't always expect to see together, courtesy of Gucci's Spring 2011 RTW collection.

I love the pops of color that just brightens the collection, from gorgeous emerald greens, to bright orange and electric blue just combined to make a bold statement.

Isn't it just the loveliest?

I have to admit, part of my interest stems from the general obsession over jumpsuits and rompers--they serve both function and style all at once and defeats the purpose of that ever-lingering dilemma of what top with what bottom?

Unfortunately I am not able to scrounge enough coin to grab the jumpsuit from Gucci...but I did find a cute alternative...

Beadwork: Spring Jewelry.

I had a bit of time to look around Le Chateau after work while waiting for my brother to pick me up.  I love my work, being in downtown allows for lots of things to do without venturing too far.  I picked up two necklaces that would be sooo perfect for spring and even transition into fall!

So excited to use it as a finishing touch to one of my work outfits! I love fab finds! Best part, both were on sale for $6.99 each! awesome.

Dream weavin' for spring 2011!

Okay, so the temperature still hasn't cracked 0 degrees, and the more sun we seem to see the lower the temp seems to drop...Nevertheless it still hasn't stopped me from thinking of spring!  I am anticipating the warmer weather, when I can finally strut my stuff in less clothing! lol.

I love some of the spring trends, the bright colours, minimalist whites and okay, even the florals lol.  There is one trend which comes back every year and make it into some fashion house spring fashion line-up for their ready-to-wear collection, the weave pattern.  I love the basket weave pattern, it's so spring/summer! It looks like refreshing and a great contrast for minimal whites.

Some of the few things that have caught my eye!

BCBG - Lille Perforated leather clutch and handbag.
Laser-cuts make it easier to make a weave pattern on all types of textiles especially leather.  I love this.

Honourable mention: BEBE Lucie Lasercut sandal in Black, white and khaki (or 'cognac')

Aldo:

Rossetto
Amer

In any accessory, the lasercut or weave pattern is a great way to add spice to your spring/summer wardrobe.  I love using it as a contrasting piece to make minimalist white pop more.  So many to choose from!

BCBG...from minis to maxis, and everything else in between!

fave fashion accessory of the day/moment::

Happy Tuesday!

What a lovely day today, and it's only going to get better as the days get closer to summertime!  What a time to behold....All the springtime fashions are full on, and summer collection is out in almost full force!

I was at BCBG over the weekend on Robson, (and more frequently lately) admiring their sexy, trendy springtime fashions.  I mostly eyed the bandage skirts and dresses which I favour nowadays.  love love loves it tons! I've always bought Marciano when it came to the sweater dresses and bandage style dresses, but obviously nothing beats Max Azria (who now owns Herve Leger!).

The prices are up the charts, but you get what you pay for when you come into BCBG!

I've recently checked out their online US website...Here are a few things that have caught my eye recently!

Bandage Mini Skirts...

Sexy aren't they?  Minis galore! My heart flutters....It has as much of the signature second-skin type feel of the orginal Herve Leger Bandage dress without actually showing what's underneath.  I am absolutely inlove with the flattering look of these skirts!  It's all the rage, with the tye-dye effects, the stripes and solid colours....It's positively perfect for spring and summertime fashion, in fact, I'd say it's a must!

The Maxi Dress...

From chevron strips, prints and ombre effects, this season's Maxi dresses are anything but boring! They are max'd out in stylishness that one can't resist to get into the season's trend!  I love that Max Azria has the most whimsical prints and the brightest of colours to give the typical dress a more exciting spin.  It's so lady-like and so chic that even I can't resist! Loves it!

Bags...

The first one is pretty much the price equivalent of the famous Coach hobo that I found awhile back, real leather and all.  Now, I'm torn between the two considering this mustard hue'd bag is just a tad pricier but quite chic!  It's really upto preference.  For night time dates and such, the clutch is the perfect accessory topper to any outfit! I absolutely love white, so one white clutch is a must for me! There is also nothing wrong, however, with creating a dramatic contrast for an outfit with a pop of colour such s a cute red satin clutch! pure LOVE.

That's it for now for BCBG and my mini field trip!

Hope that you have enjoyed checkin out BCBG's spring line as much as I did!~*

enjoy the sunshine!

a spice of inspiration for the bright white denim!~*

beats:: fly- vanessa camargo ft ja rule
outfit of the day:: Old Navy grey argyle cardigan & grey pants, white racerback and runners...
fave fashion accessory of the day/moment:: my coffee =) im wired.

Okay, so as far as my fashion idols go, here is one great outfit that's inspired me for spring.

Victoria Beckham has always been a source of inspiration for me for fashion.  Her style is clean and classic but uber trendy, I love that british fashionista that just seems to shine out of her at every event she's pictured in.

As far as those that stand out in my mind as being a fashion icon, she is one of them for me.  And it's not the runways and the events that catch my eye either.  When a celebrity is at a red-carpet event, whether for awards or openings and premieres, they have a team of stylists to make sure they are red-carpet, picture-perfect and smile ready for the paparazzi.

That's not style...at least, that's not their style.

I find that those celebrities that are out and about, living their regular lives and still maintain that fashion-worthy snap from the paparazzi, sometimes without even knowing it, are the ones that deserve the monicre, fashionista

When someone is able to pull an outfit together for a coffee run or errands around the city that makes you say 'I want that' then you know they've got fashion chops.  Everyone can look their best for a specific event, it's the everydayness that I'm more interested in....It comes down to whether they can be their own stylists in their everyday lives, much like all of us are!

So anyways, I got this from the internet, so the pic is not originally from me...I forgot the source but if you peruse the internet and google an image of her, you'll find it...

I absolutely L-O-V-E this outfit.  It embodies the cool westcoast feel of a spring night out. It's not really that I'm obsessed with her outfit, but the idea of the crisp look of white skinny jeans and a contrasting top that makes the whole outfit pop.  It's so chic and casual, yet sexy in it's own way.  The aviators is icing to the cake on this uber chic day-to-nite outfit.

two words...LOVEs It.
I know, I just can't say it enough...

I love that this outfit can be for a dinner night out or just a daytime lunch with friends.  Versatility is the key to my wardrobe these days, or at least it's my striving point in what clothes I buy.  I am not a busy person by nature, but there are days that seem to just go on forever, and from one event to the next, I need my outfit to fit into every place and occasion I'm going to in a flash.  As far as the white jeans are considered this season, they are a great trend I welcome, considering I also love white to begin with!

When it comes to casual chic, I have to admit, I don't always hit the mark. lol.

Anyways, so I recently bought my own pair of white jeans (yet to be altered lol) and while I'm not expecting to look exactly like Lady V (one can only dream! lol) I do take this as my main inspiration for how to dress up the white jeans for the spring and summer season!  Of course I bought mine for a steal! lol.  At the moment, I opted out of investing in a more expensive pair of jeans, since it's one of those that could get stained easily or destroyed in the wearing process over time.  I don't want to have to feel bad later on lol.  I got my pair of white jeans from Sirens for $29.50(CDN).  Though I do love the distressed & destroyed look on the jeans, since there's a possibility that I may end up wearing these said jeans to work, I chose the more conservative route...The one without the destroyed effect! lol.  Maybe down the road I'll pick up a pair of the destroyed ones, who knows.

Mustard ain't just for hotdogs this summer!~*

beats:: on to the next one- jay z
outfit of the day:: Forever 21 Black/White long cardigan, Garage Black Leggings & thigh high boots
fave fashion accessory of the day/moment:: thigh high boots =)

Mustard on your hotdog!? What about to wear??? lol.

The beginning of spring 2010 has shown a crazy love affair with the burnt yellow or mustard hue in everything from the clothes we wear to the accessories we choose.  I for one have been on a personal quest since the beginning of february (going as far as Vegas! lol) to find myself the perfect mustard hue to add to my growing bag collection.  I have already extended my basic racerback colours from the usual black and white solids to include a mustard hue to accent my look for spring!  All I need now is the perfect bag and pair of shoes in the same hue, and I am soooo set! lol.

While I was in search of my own mustard hue'd fashion, I have decided to post some suggestions that I have found mostly at Forever 21 (and one from Aldo) on the cutest Mustard coloured clothes and accessories to help you with your quest to look your best this season!  Pls. feel free to suggest any of your own as well!

My personal 'Mustard' picks:

I know, I know...I already posted this early early early this morning!! lol.  I just sooo love the style and the hue of this spring/summer yellow.  It's a pure luv connection when you see the shade and the peep toe adds that extra summer breezy style to it.

I know you're thinking, another plaid shirt!? lol.  Well I find that this cute lil' casual plaid shirt kinda kills two birds with one stone in terms of if you're really into the trends of mustard hues and also the plaid shirt thing.  It will go great to wear with jeans and a nice pair of rafia or chrochet tan flats =)

Okay this one is my personal fave.  I LOVE the hue like you have noooo idea.  I find this bag so adorably cute for spring that I just had to include it in this blog! lol.  It even has the two straps that are so in right now!  the shorter hobo shoulder strap and the cross body longer strap as well!(i think lol).  I am so into bigger hobo bags right now, it fits so much more than just a medium sized shoulder bag, at least for gallavanting about town and running errands!

I thought I'd show another top that looked cute and is also crossing with another trend at the moment.  This woven top is another summer-y top that I thought was pretty cute and could be a day-to-night kind of top!  You can pair it with shorts, or a nice pair of jeans (preferrably an indigo wash for me! lol) and either with flats, sandals or heels! I love the detailing on the neckline, it draws more attention to the upper features!

If you were looking for more of a night-time kind of top, this one is a sure winner! The ruffles on the top make it so feminine and not to mention the hue itself.  I love how it just gives abit of a peek-a-boo to your decouletage but doesn't open up to show everything.  It's the softness of the look that makes it sort of romantic looking while still giving you that extra pop of colour!

Last is this sweater that I thought would also add contrast and romance to your evening look.  The ruffles softens the sweater and makes it more feminine while still adding colour to your wardrobe!

These gave me an idea of what kinds of pieces I'd like in my wardrobe for the season to give that extra umph and wattage.  Just because it's summer, no reason to look hot and sizzling while enduring the heat!

These can all be found on the forever 21 website & aldo website on the sidebar of my blog.

trend alert! weaves on a shoppers' budget!~*

Happy Easter lovely dollies!~*

Spring has been upon us for about two weeks now! Once the rain dissepates, the sun is sure to bring out the beauties with the fashion trends for spring and summer 2010!  I have yet to see a change into warmer weather but I'm sure it'll come soon! <3

One trend that I have definitely fallen head over heels for is the woven accessories.  It goes oh-so-well with the crisp white babydoll lace and cotton dresses that are sure to pop up everywhere during summer!

* luvs it! * ~*

Okay so here is a woven belt that just came out now on the Marciano website:
Ellisiana Braided Belt $88.00 (cdn)

This darling belt is a perfect spring/summer accessory to any neutral/crisp white outfit that you rock this upcoming season!  It gives off that earthy contrast to the light colours of spring! I luv luv luv the braided effect of the belt itself, sort of like one of those wicker bags that do look so adorable during the summer months!

For the thrifty shopper, fear not!  Not everything will cost an arm and a leg this spring/summer!  If you're one to accessorize on a budget, here are 3 options that I have found courtesy of Forever 21 that are at fabulous prices that won't break the bank!

The first is the double buckle belt $7.80(CDN) - It has sort of a crochet style band that goes around the waist with a deeper coloured buckle. The crochet is reminiscent of the crochet style bags and shoes of spring!
The second, which I recently bought but in the brown (which for some reason isn't available online anymore) Jennie Woven belt $10.80(CDN).  This is a super cute belt (which I have yet to wear) that I think would pair perfectly with my spring wardrobe an transition into summer.  It is so rustic, not polish or clean, it's earthy toned and also has the braided band around the belt that is similar to the woven accessories for this season.

The next one is more if you want a pop of colour.  Since most of the colours I have shown are in earthy browns and blacks and cream colours, I thought I'd show one with a pop of a bright tone to set a beautiful contrast that can transition wonderfully from daytime dress to nightime wear!  I love the chic casualness of the braided belt mixed in with the two toned laces.

The Woven Laces belt $9.80(CDN) - interwoven two colours, comes in red and cream or blue and cream.  Luv luv! It gives off the unusual pop of colour that sets it apart from the usual pastels and neutrals.

These belts that I have chosen (courtesy of Forever 21 Canada website) are eye pleasers that don't break the budget!  In the fashion world, the trends are ever-changing.  It doesn't hurt to invest once in awhile in some timeless classic pieces, but there's nothing wrong with a trendy yet inexpensive item to accessorize the season's look!

Happy shopping!~*

what's blooming for spring~*

beats:: digital girl(remix) - jamie foxx ft drake
outfit of the day:: same as below (it's only been a few mins since my last post haha)
fave fashion accessory of the day/moment:: same as below...(its cold!)

The flowers, like my allergies, are in full bloom...Spring is just around the corner; literally in 3 days.

*hello spring...I've been waiting for you..!~*

I've been flipping through the pages of several magazines (i've been bored! lol) and I've slowly been soaking up all the spring trends that each magazine has dished out as the 'IT' trend of the season that we should all prepare for....um, right.  Since it's just really a hint of spring that has come, and there's still residual cold that lingers in the air, I am forced to observe on the sidelines which trends are going to take during the upcoming season upon us.

Some trends I've observed....
  • florals ~ really popular and popping up all over the magazines.  It's really the only season that you could really go nuts on flowers, cause any other season it just looks out of place!
  • denim ~ lots of it...from jackets to the all over slightly different tone of denim with neutral heels, bags etc...it's ranging in different shades and textures too, like acid wash, indigo etc..to me, denim seems so 90s lol but oh well...
  • neutrals ~ okay, so this I could really get with.  I love neutrals like light browns and pastel pinks combined together...LUVs it.  It probably does little for my complexion but i'm naturally drawn to neutrals lol.
  • metallics ~ mind you, this is harder to pull off during the day haha...Sometimes I wonder why some trends still remain but hey, who am i to argue!?  Anyways, so metallics are once again in this year (i didn't even know it left!)
  • utility/safari earthy tones ~ I could see myself getting a few pieces of clothing for this trend.  I definitely love the utility jackets that seem to be coming out in different styles, even the shorts and cargos they have going look quite interesting.  If anything the trend goes sour, I could always re-use it if I ever decide to go on a safari vacation! lol.
