Fashion From the Movies: Sex & the City Maxi

Ever watch Sex and the City the movie? If you have then you'd know for certain where this scene is from.  Call me crazy, but I love the episodes (which thankfully play on syndication on Cosmo!) and the movie.  I loved this Halston heritage maxi that SJP's character Carrie Bradshaw was sporting at a beach in Abu Dhabi.  Unfortunately this dress would require serious coinage as it is part of the Halston Heritage brand that SJP herself used to sit on the board of!

Fear not! I did find this dupe (if you will) of the dress.  Granted it does not have the cascading train of hers in the movie (as she preferred not to hem hers I guess) but this Forever 21 dress looks just as gorge as hers does!  At the price of $39.80 its a great deal!  This dress came in mint and a color similar to SJP's, coral.

Movie Night

Happened upon the movie tonight and thought that even through the tragedy of the story, the 70s came alive with its vivid recreation of the time and the outfits --it's like taking a time warp.  The tragic story of Hector Lavoe who brought salsa mainstream in the 70s to the US and drowned in his own demons.

It's a good movie I think, even with Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony sharing the same fate in their real life marriage.

I love when the costumes are as authentic as the time being recreated.  It gives you a sense of realness and sets you in that time.

On Trend: Top Gun cool

"I feel the need...for speed..."

Channeling my inner Tom Cruise a la Top Gun today while running errands at the mall.

I love my crop camo bomber jacket.  I got it years ago from my bf as a birthday present.

to find out what I was wearing...

Movie Inspiration: Maid in Manhattan

I love this movie, but it seemed like it was reaching.  I'm a hopeless romantic so I didn't mind lol.

I loved two of Jennifer Lopez's outfits in this movie...

Inspired! Crisp in ivory

Just a few months back, I watched 'Something Borrowed' for a girls' movie afternoon.  I knew I was already going to love the movie seeing that I loved the book when I first read it I believe a year or two before.

Another thing that caught my eye? the fashion!  Kate Hudson's character was the stylish one and had all the latest things--chanel purse in the intro of the movie, the clothes and  of course, the dream man in tow.

One thing that I loved?  Her cream suit!

At the movies...sucker punch'd!

I recently watched the movie 'Sucker Punch' with my boyfriend thinking it was a different concept from what I actually watched.  Everyone had mentioned how sucky it was and that it was not worth my time--after I already watched it! lol.  Although it wasn't bound to win any Oscars, it did have great action stunts (all i'm sure graphically enhanced) and nice costumes lol.  Oh please! I know every girl will want to dress like one of these girls on Halloween.  It's like the Bratz dolls, except they can kick ass!

Vintage Inspired: Lovin' it the second time around!

via digitalspy.com
One of my all-time fave movies *smile* So much so that I actually have a DVD copy (courtesy of my bro!) watching it from time to time.

I love the fashion in this movie, not to outshine the movie plot line itself of course...To know that it's once again resurfaced as part of fashion these days.  You really can recycle the styles of yester-year! lol.

When in Rome....

A few months back, I was lucky enough to be able to watch the movie 'When in Rome' with my oh-so-fave actress from the Veronica Mars series Kristen Bell and Las Vegas series Josh Duhamel.  Even when I first saw the trailer, I knew instantly that I would love this movie--and I was right!

This movie has instantly become one of my fave movies of all time--bar-none!

I guess this more relates to a movie review than a fashion related entry, but in a way, it still relates.

I loved the fashion in the entire movie, from her office wear at the museum in New York City to when she was in Rome and even while at the actual event for the museum to showcase the art.  The fashion was bang-for the ever-lovely Kristen Bell.

Of course who could forget, major eye-candy, Josh Duhamel!  Fashion sense and comedic timing--puurfecto!

I would recommend this movie to anyone that is into romantic comedy like me....It's the new wave of romantic comedy...Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan had to step aside sometime!
