Cosmetic Gala Madness at The Bay!~*

beats:: Check it Out -Nicki Minaj ft Will.i.am

OOTD:: jammies =)

fave fashion accessory of the day/moment:: platform shoes! I love them sky high heels!

Tonight was The Bay's annual Cosmetic Gala during the holidays.  It was the perfect opportunity to combine two of my current obsessions, makeup and shopping! The freebies didn't hurt either! lol.

We started off by checking in at the door, fashionably late...Once arriving, we received complimentary Givenchy giftbags filled with fragrance samples! sweeeet.

I  must say, when I think of perfumes that I usually gravitate to, Givenchy usually doesn't spring to mind immediately...I guess that's what samples are for!  We got Givenchy Play Intense a men's and women's sample, Play for her, Ange ou demon and Ange ou Demon Silk Body Veil. luvs!

I was planning on gettin' glammed up for the gala, just because I relish the opportunity to dress up anytime any occasion calls for it.  I figured with all my shopping I might as well use what I buy! Unfortunately, with the unexpected traffic on the way home from work and eating dinner, in the end I had less time than I thought.  I ended up wearing work clothes once again.  It's becoming somewhat of a trend with me as I start to live more and more in my work clothes...

Thank goodness for fashionable work clothes!

So in my work clothes I went.  I am wearing a Jacob loose top, BCBG bandage skirt and BEBE platform sandals.

I ended up with an unexpected bag full of Mac goodies!!! =)

I don't usually buy this much makeup, but with the opportunity in front of me and several items I had waited to purchase until the Gala it was the perfect time!
So here's what I ended up buying...

clockwise starting from the Tin...

-5 smokey thrillseekers pigments/glitter: contains pigments in blue brown, naked, dark soul & jigs and jive with cranberry glitter.

-Tartan tale eyeshadow in Golden crown

-no. 217 blending brush

-paint pot eyeshadow base in Soft Ochre

the pro palette in the picture was not bought tonight--I already owned it before-hand.

All in all it was a good night.  We ventured into the fragrances, other cosmetics counters--I even tried a bronzer at Nars, but nothing seemed to catch our fancy but MAC.  I had fun getting to ask questions and get makeup tips from the MAC pro's.

I can't wait to try my purchases!

Another successful night for me!~*

My Shaw Christmas Party Dress...Decided!

I love the holidays...My tree is up, the new theme is White and Gold--it sparkles ever so!  The wreath is close to being done and I have finally decided on my Christmas Party dress!

It's time once again for the annual Shaw Christmas Party, and I always have a fussy time with finding a dress and everything to accessorize it!   I love getting my glam on for this party, as it is extravagantly big and exciting!  Where else will you be able to find an event that will give you a chance to get all dressed up!?

I have chosen this dress that I had bought last February in Vegas, while on my birthday trip.  I bought it for a steal for about $80.00 at the outlet, MSRP roughly around $200!  I luv vegas!

It is a far cry from my usual LDB for a formal affair.  I love this dress, it looks like a bandage dress (which immediately is a luv for me!) and it's satin so it has a formal feel!  It's slightly fitted but not so that I can't enjoy the lovely buffet-style christmas party =)

Now to accessorize....

Alotta Nude goin on this fall!

I love neutral colours!  Give me a nude shoe and I am in heaven!

I finally bought the shoes from Aldo, Lanclos - msrp $120.00 (CDN) for a great deal! I am soooo happy!

Nothing is better than to not only get your fave shoes, but to get it at more than half the price!  The sale price ended up being $55.99 in the end.  Sweet!

I love the colour of this shoe! Neutral means that it matches with alot of outfits and colour schemes!  The height it gives me is just mah-velous! lol.  Sitting at 5.25 inches, it is just the prettiest pair of maryjanes!

Ode to Birkin

I am lovin' my new bag!

I recently purchased a bag from Aldo, somewhat Birkin-esque and in beautiful camel colour...I am sooo inlove with this bag!

It is called the Cyphert - $45.00 (CDN)
I love the details they have put into this bag, the tassel at the front, which with the strap in the front (for deco purpose only!) gives it that Birkin-ish style to it.  It also has a longer strap, just in case you get tired of holding the bag.  Very smart and very in at the moment, I say!

The image is in the red which they call rust, which I absolutely adore!  I bought the beige colour, but I just love the style that I may end up getting all three colours! lol.

I love that it is big enough for all my stuff, and yet sophisticated enough to bring me from daytime at work to night-time social hour! .luvs.

Bring it on, Ol' man winter! =P

Today I went to the mall to find my very first pair of snow boots...Yes, you read right, my very first pair!  It's hard to believe that I've lived in a city with four seasons to speak of, and I have yet to be prepared for the toughest season, Winter!

This year is different, however! I decided to splurge on a pair of All Weather boots.

It was hard for me to commit to these at first, seeing as how I would usually gravitate to a pair of fashion boots or those with heels that probably will do more harm for me during the wintery season than good.

With Thermolite, it's an all weather boot that keeps warmth and is good for upto -20 degrees.  All man-made materials, PVC and rubber sole.

I am excited to sport these and see how well they fair against winter...

Now all I need are a new pack of thermal socks, a new toque (courtesy of work!) and I will be all set...

Like I said, bring it on Ol' man winter! I am ready for ya!~*

Holidays 2010: gearing up once again!

I love the holidays!

It gives me an excuse to shop, over-dress without being questioned and party with loved ones just because!

My work being as small as it is, our holiday celebrations are limited to a christmas luncheon at the office, or a small gathering for dinner--so there's no chance for me to get all dolled up...As a result, I take the opportunity to get myself all glammed up for my bf's work Christmas party!  His christmas party always books a huge hall to house all of its thousands of employees from all over the lower mainland!

My quest for the perfect holiday look, not only for my bf's work party but also for the family dinner, starts around the end of October--and If I'm lucky, will end just days before Christmas eve! lol.  It's very painstaking for me to find the perfect outfit for every event, and decide on my hair and makeup to match, along with show-stopping shoes!

It's all a process for me, exciting and stressful at the same time!

Long-Sleeve Tunics, continued...

So it continues... One of the trends I've seen lately is the rise of long-sleeved tunics and dresses this season.

One dress I've recently seen come out of Forever 21 that is quite similar to the Luna Dress and my Edaline Marciano dress...

Embellished Chiffon Tunic $33.80 (CDN)

I love the intricate detailing around the neck, it kind of doubles as a necklace!

Perfect for a dinner party, or a holiday office gathering...It doesn't reveal too much and looks elegant.  It's like a perfect option to your LBD collection--plus it doesn't break the bank!

Vegas Reminisced: Nightlife fashion

I loved Vegas, it was a quick little get-away (as usual).  I was fairly happy with my packing skills this time around, I guess always being on the go has certainly helped hone my packing abilities.

Here are some of my fashion thumbs up moments in vegas =)

First night of clubbing, Pure Night Club (pre-clubbing)

2nd night of clubbing, Tao Nightclub (pre-clubbing)

I am quite happy of the outfits that I chose that night...none were too uncomfortable (except unlike thousands of girls I didn't like showing my bra for the first outfit..ugh) and every outfit provided enough wiggle room for dancing all night long!

Double Duty Outfits: work to happy hour!

I am one of those women...

9-5 work weeks and happy hour with the gals when it's been a rough week.  I live in my work clothes being that I work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day (lunch not included lol).  I find that having pride in your look says alot about you to your clients and customers, and looking good and presentable gives them an impression that you mean business.

With that said, there is nothing wrong with wearing outfits for work that double as an apres work hour socializing with the gals.

If you're like me, then you would appreciate where I'm coming from with this entry.

Today's work outfit is the Black sheath dress...

I take my fashion queues from Ms. Beckham--a great sheath can give you a sexy yet professional look at the same time.  Great fit and fabric are important, and that it hits every curve of your body correctly!

This one was a relatively inexpensive sheath.  It was about $30 bought at a smaller boutique store (which the name narrowly escapes me at the moment) and is my fave go-to for work.  It doesn't reveal much and yet hugs every curve of my body perfectly.  It is also a great outfit for work that, with a few accessories, can turn into an after-work gathering outfit! luvs.  In order change up for the night time, one can just switch accessories like add more blingy jewelry and either change shoes or pair with a different blazer or jacket, and voila! social hour outfit in a snap!

In this pic, I paired a simple black sheath with taupe guess plaform pumps and topped it with a red Aldo belt for effect!

Show and Tell: Capes for fall

I recently made a big fashion decision after my little setback several days ago.  I was all set to purchase a cape at Jacob, with my donation in hand but after trying out the cape I saw not too long ago i sadly opted out of buying it.  I decided to just wait it out for the one that I actually wanted to get in the first place, the Zara Studio Woollen Cape.  Pricier?--yes, but so worth the price.

I love that the cape is a wool blend instead of just a mix of poly or other synthetic fibres that don't keep you as warm.

While sometimes it seems like a good idea to take the deal handed to you to get a must-have, there are times when it's worth it to invest in a timeless piece.  The cape is another fashion piece that was made popular in the 70s and has made a turn-around into a fashionable yet practical piece for fall/winter wear.

Another must-have is checked off the list!
