I've been wanting to try the red lip...I've been abit afraid cause it's not something that everyone can pull..You don't want end up looking like a hooker! lol.

Aritizia Warehouse Sale!

Sales! Sales! Sales!

I love holidays for more than just one reason;  It's when I usually take mini vacations or long ones (to maximize my number of work holidays).  If for some reason like say a bf mishap occurs and I end up staying in the city, there's still a reason to love holidays like the upcoming one, Labor Day!

While growing up, I hated Labour day, it meant that school was just around the corner, literally! It also signaled the end of summer lazy days, which I also loved lol.  As an adult, I don't get the same luxuries of two months vacation without consequence, so I don't mind whenever any holidays roll around--especially Labor day.  In fact, I kind of secretly look forward to it now, it's when Fall comes around (as I've mentioned over and again, my fave season) and it's when the kids go back to school which means I don't hear as much ruckus and noise in the playground near my house (which is going to change anyways).  Don't get me wrong, I love kids, but i experience a similar relief that parents feel when their kids finally go back to school lol.

Anyways, (as my Managerial Accounting teacher says) I digress..

As an ode to the upcoming long weekend, I will be posting various sales coming up....

Happy Labor Day =)

Tuesday morning blues..

It's such a dismal morning...It really is beginning to feel like fall....

The Zara location of where I would normally do my shopping isn't open yet, so that's disappointing.

I cannot wait to do my Fall shopping!  It's weird it's around the same time I'm moving so I'd have to end up purging some of my other pieces which I don't wear.  I need to figure out how to make some $$$ back while doing it.  Of course I will still donate to the clothing drives, but I highly doubt that a clothing drive will appreciate my donation of a sparkly halter from BEBE as being practical!?

NYC: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

One of the things that I will dearly miss this year from cancelling my NYC trip? (well maybe, cause my departure was slated for the day it starts) The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week from September 8-15.

Debuting their Fall/Winter 2011-2012 for the world fashion stage....

Max Azria will be on Sept 8, streaming live at 10am (ET i'm guessing)...If you're a fan like me, you'll mark it on your calendar too!  I'll try to sneak a peak during work i guess! lol.

For more info....Mercedes Benz fashion week website.

Rain, Rain go away..

Fall is fast approaching and kiddies are groaning and moaning about back to school...I am superly excited cause the fall weather gets me so happy!  Of course the rain is not far behind as always.  It's even more evident when we get days like today, when the clouds are taking over the last of our sunny summer days.

Days like these make me think of rain--the muddy, crappy rainy weather that makes me feel like staying home! lol.  One way to make rain seem like not such a bad thing? Rain boots!

The front runners?  Burberry of course!

I thought about getting their signature tartan pattern, but opted for something more simple and less flashy.

Behind closed doors: the fitting room dilemma

Decisions, decisions...

While shopping today, I decided to take some pics of some of the choices I brought inside with me to the fit room at Forever 21.  As always, I try to bring as many choices that catch my eye into the fit room, and then try them on.  I used to just bring one or two that I really liked, but when else will you be able to explore and find new things that you may otherwise not have known you liked? There's no pressure to buy, but it's nice when you have alot of choices and able to mix and match what you bring in.

Black V-neck rouched sleeve tunic.  Great for a date night or even with flat sandals (like i have here).  price? $12.50 I believe, great value! It can also be an LDB for the budget-weary.  Only Con? it shows every curve and lump lol.  Clearly i can stand to lose some poundage in some places.
Next up, royal blue cropped sweater with nautical gold buttons on the shoulder.  At $21.50, I was hesitant to purchase as the price seemed abit steep for a sweater that didn't even reach my waist.  It's a nice sweater though, nice material and cute.
Peach silk top, flowy on the bottom and quite cute! price? $27.90 still abit steep in my mind but it's not bad of a purchase.  Since summer is almost over however, the fact that it's short sleeve and looks more summerish, I didn't see the point on spending that much on something that's more for summer.
I saved the best for last! This blazer is $35.90--but I find it a great deal! it's perfect for work wear and can be used with different outfits!  I know I can get my money's worth on this.

There are alot of great pieces coming out right now, since the start of a new season is upon us.  It's important to keep in mind that some pieces, although cute, may not transition well into next season and may restrict the combination with different pieces and therefore not be worth the money in wear in the end.

Fall Must-Have #2: Cape crusading..

It's almost fall, and with fall comes in every growing need to pick up the few 'essentials' that I use all fall/winter long to survive the gruesome weather...Yes, overly dramatic i know, but since Fall is my fave season, I can never resist when it rolls around and I get to check out the new trends and styles to add to my collection.

Enter Vanessa Bruno Cape...

Vanessa Bruno coat

Vanessa Bruno coat (see more wool cape coats)

I have been inlove with capes since I saw a cream cape on Victoria Beckham look so luxurious and cozy-looking.  It's not so much the expensive part of it, its the cozy feel that it portrays while looking tailored and polished.

Seen here in the cream version sported by Kristen Bell, paired with over-the-knee boots and jeans is the perfect fall outfit!

At the movies...sucker punch'd!

I recently watched the movie 'Sucker Punch' with my boyfriend thinking it was a different concept from what I actually watched.  Everyone had mentioned how sucky it was and that it was not worth my time--after I already watched it! lol.  Although it wasn't bound to win any Oscars, it did have great action stunts (all i'm sure graphically enhanced) and nice costumes lol.  Oh please! I know every girl will want to dress like one of these girls on Halloween.  It's like the Bratz dolls, except they can kick ass!

Leather me up!

...err--for travelling, i mean.

I love to travel--in style...Who doesn't?

I feel more secure when I don't have just any old flimsy dollar store thing that I lug around when travelling.  I've tried the so-called substitutions, seen the XS Cargo luggages (not that i'm dissing that store, cause I still love it, just not for certain items) and even bought the dollar store containers that spill all over once you get to your destination.

It's not worth the time and effort!

I love this genuine leather Danier Leather Weekend Duffel bag, which I have in black (seen here in white) thanks to my bf.  It was supposed to travel with me to NYC this fall, but alas it wasn't so.  In any case, it's still a great investment for a frequent traveller.

It's got great features:
  • Two ways of carrying - top handle and a shoulder strap
  • Pockets - I can never get enough of them! It's a great way to stay organized, I say.  4 in the front, and one in the back.
  • individual pockets inside for cell phone and other knick-knacks (if you're like me, you'll fully use them!!)

    Announcements: Congratulations and Condolences

    Congratulations...

Just a quick message congratulating a newly married couple--Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian (Humphries).

They were married in a private ceremony in California at an undisclosed private estate, with family and friends, sans paparazzi.  The wedding will be televised in October, I guess leading upto their second season of of Kim and Kourtney take New York.

As an admirer of Kim Kardashian's flawless, impecable fashion sense and her entreprenurial saavy (you can tell i'm a fan of it!) I would like to say congratulations to the happy couple.  You truly can have it all!

    Condolences...

It's a sad time for the NDP party to have to announce the passing of their leader Jack Layton.  Condolences for his loved ones and friends, he was a strong fighter as a leader and lived his motto in his party life and his personal life.

    Trend: Seeing spots!

Lately i've noticed that i've started steering towards polka dots...I find it a fun alternative to stripes which i think i've overdone the last little bit.

    Hollister dress
    Le Chateau polka dot blouse

    August Haul!

It was a beautiful weekend...the only sad thing about it is knowing my bf is stuck at home with a dislocated shoulder...

At the same time that I went on a little haul to pass the time, aside from spending saturday afternoon at the beach.
    NARS - orgasm blush &
    laguna bronzer duo
Hollister Blue ruffle dress with white polka dots...great steal! reg. price about $80 but got it for i think $40 after tax!
A necklace from BCBG...isn't it nice how they wrapped it beautifully into a box with a ribbon? i wasn't even giving it as a gift!

Okay, so I bought something very similar at Aldo, sue me lol.  I can't help but love these boomerang style necklaces! This one was reg. price $20 (no sale unfortunately) but still a great price!
Even though I'm not going for a trip anymore, I'm glad to still find some great deals all over town! =)

    Simply fascinated!

I think I've been fascinated by fascinators since I saw it--um i'm not sure how far back...definitely before it came back into style that's for sure! ....I've always wanted to have one but it's not til recently that they have fully come back in style.

    via www.sangmaestro.com

Between watching period piece movies and live royal functions, I couldn't help but fall inlove with this period piece statement.  Thank goodness that I don't seem so crazy now that it's back in style!

    NYC -- cancelled!

It's a sad day that I announce, my NYC trip has been cancelled indefinitely.

My boyfriend, stupidly got himself hurt on a trampoline just two weeks before our trip, and by some freak accident dislocated his shoulder.  No telling how bad it is right now, but one thing's for sure: he's not going to NYC, and neither am I.  I'm pretty sure that however much he's disappointed, magnify that 10 times and that's me.  It's good that he's okay and not more seriously hurt...

It's a sucky, crappy, tearful day for me, that the only trip that I looked forward to for 3 months or so, has suddenly been derailed by an accident--one that should have never happened in the first place had they not been on that trampoline.  No matter, I'm glad he's ok but it'shard to muster enough energy to be more supportive than angry.

This is a sucky, sucky day for me.

    boo.

Hair of the Day: the chignon

Kim Kardashian at the 2011 People's choice Awards.  I absolutely love this hairstyle!
    popsugar.com
It's the pouffed up chignon with the part in the front...very elegant!  I believe that it's common for weddings.

    ukusafashion.blogspot.com
The bridal version, not so high at the top, still beautiful.

Little tidbit I never new before today: They sell chignon pillows to fluff up the round bun! OMGeee! I always wondered how some women get their bun so fluffed!

    Cuff me...

There is only one such time that I would even consider saying the phrase 'cuff me, please!'...

Hermes Collier de Chiens bracelet approx. $1025
If a $1100 is too much in your mind to pay for a measley leather bracelet (that i think loosely translates into a dog collar bracelet!) as it is in mine, you may want to consider some less pricey alternatives..

    Jewelry

    Jewelry (clipped to polyvore.com)

Ann Taylor Cuff Bracelet $68 cdn

okay, i cheat--this one isn't leather but still a worthy alternative for a cuff bracelet!

    BCBG spiked elastic cuff bracelet

Fall Must-Have #1: The Perfect Wool Blazer

    Balmain blazer

Balmain blazer (see more double breasted blazers)
Balmain Liquorice Wool Blazer $3,330 cdn.  (via polyvore.com)

Okay, so if you're like me and you don't have the 3k to buy this oh-so-lovely blazer, there's always alternatives out there, an eighth of the price tag.

I find that wool blazers can pull double duty of giving a polished casual look and yet keeping one warmer as a jacket during the cooler fall days.  I purchased a wool flannel blazer last christmas which retailed for about $150 but it was on sale for 40% off! Just my luck that the sale was on the same time that there was one left in my size!

It's become such a staple in my wardrobe, that I've used to past winter and into spring!  It's truly versatile--it works with a work outfit, casual with jeans or even with a cocktail dress! For the price I paid, it was well worth it!

Vintage Inspired: Lovin' it the second time around!

    via digitalspy.com
One of my all-time fave movies *smile* So much so that I actually have a DVD copy (courtesy of my bro!) watching it from time to time.

I love the fashion in this movie, not to outshine the movie plot line itself of course...To know that it's once again resurfaced as part of fashion these days.  You really can recycle the styles of yester-year! lol.

Ol' school RnB...I love this song!

I absolutely looOove Tevin Campbell..such a sweet, soulful voice.  They don't make RnB like this anymore.  I hope he comes back to make more music someday!

    One big regret.

Once upon a time, there was this girl who loved rompers and found the perfect one, but let it go.  Eversince that day, she has been searching for the one romper that will substitute for this one.  Alas, she found the very same romper once again, only it was on the website.  She once again hesitated--and poof! in a blink of an eye (or must have been a few days that passed lol) it was gone.

Twice, it slipped out of her fingers....

    The End.

Okay, so it wasn't that dramatic, but for a shopaholic who looOooves to shop and doesn't just buy any old thing, finding that one it thing to add to my collection is a passion all on its own.

Unfortunately, twice I let this one slip outta my sight...

    curls galore!

My hair's grown to a decent length and now I'm able to curl my hair once again! yay! I'm still using my Corioliss, ever a loyal fan of using a straightening iron for both curling and straightening.

    retro stylin'

No, I did not step back into sthe 60 or 70s! lol.  It's sort of my ode to the oldies =) Okay, so I'm not completely sold on Boho Chic, but adding some elements here and there to my summer wardrobe makes my summer outfits abit more trendy and fun!

Flat Iron Experts: yay or nay?

If you iron, curl or style your air on a daily basis like I do, you'd certainly want the best if not the most decent in the market for your lovely locks.  The ordinary tools just don't cut it-- they will strip your hair dry of its minerals (not that everyday styling won't already to begin with) and wear your hair down badly.

I used to buy drugstore brands thinking that more powerful heat meant better tool....wrong!

The higher temperatures don't make much of a difference, unless you want smoldering smelling locks.  They will burn your hair dry and make it smell as if you just had your hair lit on fire.  (In case you haven't caught on, that's a no no).

    Enter, Flat Iron Experts

Have you ever stopped at a Corioliss Kiosk or gone to London Drugs to buy a CHI Flat iron?  They cost a fortune! Going to an online retailer with no store-front overhead allows you to get the best deal, since they don't have to mark up their products too much.  It also probably doesn't hurt them either that they get their products wholesale and would in turn, sell at the best price possible.

Think about it, great tools for great results.  It seems like a crazy price to pay for styling tools, but it's like a great chef wanting the best kitchen knives to cut with, or a handyman wanting the best tools to construct with.

In conclusion, I think that Flat Iron Experts =  Yay! (mos def)
