The new digs!

Last night I spent my first night at my place! the renos have finally almost ended and just a few tweaks here and there are needed.  It's weird living so much closer to work...I timed it this morning and it took 7 mins to get to work! wow.

I love my big closet!  That's the one thing that I know I traded up on.  It's finally big enough to house all my clothes (even tho I got rid of alot!).  The only thing now is to start unpacking! lol....well sort of.  There are still some more renos to finish.

Canucks Game: Canucks vs. Ducks!

Thanks to my boss, we scored some awesome seats to a pre-season Canucks game against the Anaheim ducks.  They lost to the ducks, but it was still a great game overall!

Revlon Lipstick

Not too long ago I was on the hunt for the perfect nude lipstick that will work with what I usually wear for night time make-up, the smokey eye look.  The make-up no-no is to wear strong lipstick and eye makeup and so since I usually wear the smokey eye look, I thought why not wear simple nude colored lips.

I found this while trying to kill time at superstore one day at the mall.  It seemed peachy enough to just be the right shade.

They've worked out well so far, so if you're in the market for nude lips, try this drugstore brand.  I believe it comes in matte as well as glossy.

Ladies' choice...

shoe of the day!

I love fridays...they signal the end of the week, and in my case, date night as well!

Shoe of the day:

Christian Louboutin Metaliboot

The price tag of these oh-so-lovely shoes aren't exactly in my price tag (as I'm sure it's not in some of yours either) but there are less pricier substitutes...
Vancouver, Ottawa make Top 10 list for badly dressed

Wow, I am a vancouverite and I am ashamed!  Where are Clinton Kelly and Stacy London when you need them!!??

I get it, the birth place of yoga pants and all things comfort wear which is Lulu Lemon is in Vancouver.  Aritzia has its own version of the ever-popular yoga gear as well...but where does it all end?  The WTNW duo warned us about this, the lines between comfort and slouch in certain occasions...little did we know it would haunt a whole city! ack!

On the move!

So the next two weeks is going to be hectic, I will be moving so all my stuff will be boxed up until then.  Since most of my stuff will be packed, it will be a OOTD hiatus for me until I am in my new home and all situated. sigh.  I love moving cause that's one of the only few times that I actually sort my stuff that has been collecting, into donate, sell, throw or keep piles.  I should mention that I also hate moving since that means I actually have to take the time to sort through all the crap that's accumulated since I last moved ! (which if you know me, you'd know was a long time ago!)

Trends: Collar Necklaces

A trend to which I've been steering toward for jewelry is collar necklaces.  It's somewhat similar to bib necklaces except not so large and wide.  I love that if you're wearing a high neck, the jewelry makes the collar look more intricate.

Here's one I've recently seen that I abolsolutely love!

Seeing Double!

I've been obsessed with satin/silk blouses for awhile now.  I love that they look flowy and loose but still feminine.  Great for the office but for going out as well.  I recently saw a cute blouse that had contrasting collar and cuffs, black and white--my fave colour combination!

There are many kinds out there, and depending on the feel and cut of the blouse, you can find one that will fit any price range!

If you want to see one blouse, comparable prices, read on!

Inspired! birds of a feather...

Still channeling her last movie, 'Black Swan'...

posing with Justin Timberlake for a magazine spread, promoting their new movie 'Friends with Benefits', Mila Kunis shows her elegance in a swan-like dress.

Fall Must-Have #4: Sweaters & ponchos

I have seen this sweater every year for about a couple of years now at Aritzia.  I almost bought it the first year it came out but hesitated.  Originally, it came out in two styles, one was a zip-up style (shown below) and the other was a pull-over style which was the one I actually wanted.  Unfortunately, the latter sold out so fast, I barely got a chance to find it in any store, much less in my size.

Inspired! Crisp in ivory

Just a few months back, I watched 'Something Borrowed' for a girls' movie afternoon.  I knew I was already going to love the movie seeing that I loved the book when I first read it I believe a year or two before.

Another thing that caught my eye? the fashion!  Kate Hudson's character was the stylish one and had all the latest things--chanel purse in the intro of the movie, the clothes and  of course, the dream man in tow.

One thing that I loved?  Her cream suit!

10 years later: Never Forget

I just wanted to take a moment to remember those that perished 10 years ago today and those that gave their lives to save others.  There are no words to describe the tragedy in the loss of lives.  The only thing we can take away from this is to learn from the tragedy.

There is a great tragedy in this day, but there is now hope where it was once grim.  Hope that those that passed on did not die in vain, and that it has somehow brought everyone together in the time of need.

I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the first moment I realized what was happening.  Although i was nowhere near New York, watching the tragic events unfold that day changed me.

lovin' thursday! another summer day in september! lol

beats:: Selena Gomez - Love you like a love song

OOTD:: White Forever 21 button-up cardi, Hollister polkadot dress, Garage brown braided leather belt and yellow Urban Behaviour sandal flats.

fave fashion accessory of the day/moment:: My white headband from Aldo I was wearing before it started giving me a headache lol.

It is once again a beautiful day in Vancouver....It's going to be another scorching hot day in the city, and while everyone is hating the lingering heatwave I am secretly lovin it!

We had a big absence of the usual summer heatwave in July so i'm relishing this last rush of summer heat before I officially retire my summer clothes.  I find it sad how it barely came this year but a short summer heatwave is better than a long-standing one that causes abit of drought.  bleh.  There is nothing like a few straight days of burning hot days to make you feel glad for fall...and boy, am I ever glad for fall!

Labour Day weekend in the city

For Labour Day this weekend, I stayed within the city limits...Nothing really exciting to report--dinner on friday night at Guu with an old friend to catch up, went to the Aritzia Sale on saturday afternoon and walked and did a mini-tour of downtown then stayed in with the bf for most of the time.  It was still a fun long weekend, especially since it was a four-day weekend for me instead of a 3...Labour Day was still fun!

Hope everyone else found an adventure during the long weekend and had a fun and safe Labour Day!

hugsies!

fyi: if anyone at all has noticed, I mis-spelled 'Labour' in Labour day and spelled it the American way lol.  technically i'm somewhat not wrong, though since we go by the spelling here with the 'u' i had to revert back to it!

Last ditch effort for summer wear!

I know I have said in the past that I would give up buying cutesy outfits from Hollister and Abercrombie because I'm getting up there in age, but I couldn't help it this time.

There was a sale at Hollister for their summer stuff, and of course with additional 30% off the mark-downs so I couldn't resist!
Tamarack Top - Sale price after 30% discount: $20.93

It's somewhat a cutesy top but can still work with nice trousers, so I decided to get it anyways.

I love sales!

Sale! Club Monaco

Cake Pops!

For something non-fashion related...I made cake pops tonight!

Flash of genius, unrecorded...

I'm exaggerating...It's not a flash of genius lol.  I'm just talking about outfits I wear on a daily basis that I love.

There are times when I feel like I should've taken a pic and didn't. boo.

There are girls that I know of that recorded their 'OOTD's like clockwork, meanwhile i always forget.

Why me..

The first wilfred store

So the first Wilfred store in Canada has opened.  It's one of Aritzia's luxe brands, and the store has opened in Eaton Centre.

For the complete info, check out their blog, under Happenings...

Can't wait to visit!

Gap sale online!

plus free shipping...

Bath and Body works...Fall specials!

Anyone up for a little aroma therapy? Because not every sale is about clothing!

Forever 21 Sale!

Bag-tacular!

Yes, that title was lame lol...i just suddenly thought of Hugh Grant in 'Two Weeks Notice' saying 'belt-acular' lol.
I recently bought a new bag from Aldo (which at some point this year, i swore i wouldn't do anymore) which i found to be both cute and practical.  It still fails by comparison to my LV, but it will have to do for an everyday bag.
It fits most of what I was able to pack into my LV, though with less space afterwards.
I do love the multiple compartments, one in the back where the bag flap is...

One big one in the middle..
...and a flap in the front, for all my non-sensical receipts.
I also quite like the hardware details in this bag, as I have always been attracted to the details in a bag that make it unique and stylish.
It has an easy metal twist lock...It was the last in the store and so I took the display which had a few scratches...
The one feature that I liked about this bag the most? The fact that it had both a handle and a strap.  It's nice to have the option of having both the strap and the handle...

I love both my higher end bags and lower end bags.  They both serve their purpose, although I'm noticing that I have little use for so many trendy bags as I barely use them anyways.  Practicality and style top my needs in order to buy a bag.
