Weekend Round-up: Brooklyn and Memphis Blues

I love weekends, especially sunny ones.  I was able to leave early once again after what seemed like a week in hell. lol.  It was one of those days when everything that could go wrong, did.

I had fun although the consequences of friday came back to haunt me on saturday lol.  All in all I still had a fairly good weekend, which is all that I ask and all that I require to rejuvenate me for the next week.

Check out more pics after the jump!

Tweed Blazer: 3 Ways

I think my love for the tweed blazer is somehow intertwined with my immense love for Chanel and all things elegant and luxurious.  I have always thought that Coco Chanel epitomized the elegant woman--wise before her time, she knew what made a woman stand out and look beautiful even with just two colors on a palette to work with (or lack of color thereof!)

Check out the the ways I've styled my tweed...

Chicago: September 2013!

I am happy to announce that I have cemented my only big vacation of the year --Chicago! I am so excited about this, I have always wanted to visit the city, with or without Oprah on tv lol.  I have always heard of the city being one of the cities for culinary wonder, the spirit of the city (that is much like my own about my hometown), the city skyline and more!

I am ecstatic that Choose Chicago on Twitter even gave me some suggestions on where to go! Thanks for the help! I am literally counting down the days...

Chi town, here I come!

Spotlight: New summer sandals!

You like?

I saw these while at Kingsgate Mall browsing at Payless while waiting for my ride.  I was just going to wander when I found these tucked away between some running shoes and heeled shoes.  It was what I was looking for this summer, open toed flats--and wouldn't you know it, it was in my size! The best price? um hello! it was less than $50! What a bargain!

Just thought I'd share! Happy Monday and goodnight! :-)

Maxi-mize for summer!

maxi dress from GAP
Along with summer dresses, another trend I've grown to love lately is the maxi dress.  Another great, versatile piece to have during summertime, it can double as an easy piece to wear on a lazy day or a surprisingly more common type of dress to wear for weddings! It gives that beautiful bohemian thrown-together-last-minute look.

A throwback of my fave maxi dress (that unfortunately shrank, tho I can't say it's a bad thing) the nautical stripe dress I proudly bought in NYC last year and to this day is one of my fave maxi dresses!

Here are other dresses that have caught my eye!

The perfect Summer Dress

Hola!

I can sense that summer is upon us! Oh, the glorious breeze that only the transition of spring to summer brings, the cute summer outfits and the patios crowded with those enjoying the sunshine!  I previously posted this pic of my summer dress below...a cute dress I got from Urban Behavior a few months ago.  I loved the crochet detailing on the hem and the ruffles on the bustline.  It's so cute!
A great summer dress can range anywhere from $20 to $100 depending on the detailing and the type of fabric you choose..It can be a straight cotton dress to a mix of crochet, lace and cotton all bundled together to make you perfect dress!

Here are other summer dresses worth checking out...

Vancouver Public Library

I just wanted to share the majesty of this structure.  Isn't it beautiful? The public library is one of the architectural structures I am very proud of and still in awe of in downtown.

So zee bf once asked why I always take shots around town and end up looking like some tourist...I say, with a city this beautiful who wouldn't?

Just wanted to share another angle of the library!

TGIF! What are you upto this weekend?

I am slightly tired albiet in a good mood.

It's Friday folks! :-)

The morning weather is just gloomy and drizzly, and along with the rest of Vancouver I am anticipating the better weather that TWN promised later in the afternoon lol.

We have been promised good weather for the weekend of course, and with that comes events in and around town!

VPL: sunday funday in downtown!

Vancouver Public Library - downtown location

My city has and is always a source of pride for me.  Imagine my shock when it was so violently rioted during the sad end to our stanely cup run not too long ago.  It's a beautiful city that deserves the love and respect from its people.  Last sunday I had a chance to hang out at the local library.  Yes folks, this is our main library located in downtown Vancouver, not the Colosseum in Rome. I'm not quite sure when the phrase came up in front of the library but the meaning seems to both baffle and intrigue everyone that comes across it.

It's not technically a throwback thursday, but the structure has been a downtown fixture since I was in highschool, so I guess that counts right?

Enjoy!

TGIF: Flower Blazer for fridate!

Whenever the sunshine shows up and the end of the week rolls up, it's sure everyone's making a run for the door before the end of the work day--I'm no exception.  I love Vancouver all year round (even in the freezing temps!) but nothing shows Vancouver's beauty and wonder like a nice sunny day (be it winter, summer spring or fall) especially at the end of the week!

I was inspired by the beauty of the day and thus, for our weekly fridate I decided to dress with the spring blooms in mind. To check out what I wore...

Weekend Roundup: tempermental weather and fridate wonderfulness!

Pacific Centre dome - view from the inside
 Happy Monday lovelies!

I thought I'd share a little bit of my city's architectural wonders to start for a change! gorgeous, no? This is the view from the inside of the Pacific Centre Mall dome.

I am once again looking worse for the wear from the weekend after a busy yet uneventful past few days.  I like when the days just flow and things happen and yet it still feels relaxing.

The weekend started out right with work letting out an hour early for the weekend.  I wasn't able to get out as early, leaving just half hour shy of our regular clock out, but being in the position that I am, I rarely ever get to partake in those little perks...

Paisley Blues

Today was one of those days that just didn't seem to end.  Actually, I've been having those days a lot more frequently since I started school...The things we do for higher education.  It'll be all worth it in the end, right?

Today I was in a rare mood to dress up for work...

Throwback Thursday: NYE 2011 fun!

For throwback thursday I thought i'd dig up a gem! I love this picture --New Year's Eve 2011, no better way to ring in the new year than with those you love.  I was so inlove with this dress, and my shoe changes! lol.  It comes in handy to stay at the same hotel that the party is held.  We stayed at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, the same place as the NYE gala we attended.

Hello, Tuesday! 'after a long weekend' blues. literally.

Bonjour mes amis!

I have no idea if that's even right lol.  Pardon et moi, my francais is a little rusty haha.  Rainy tuesdays, if there is anything else that can make you feel ho-hum about a day--it's rain!

I am in all my geeky glory today, sporting the all-important glasses :-) No, not for fashion.  It's unfortunate for me that while i chose the frames which were trending at the moment, it's an accessory that i can't live without most days.

The windows into my soul need focus hence the glasses! (i ramble).

It's not really a fashion related post, but if you must know, i am wearing (and taken in an unflattering angle might i add) Banana republic blue cable knit sweater.

Weekend Round-up: last sunny weekend

I had a bit of a long weekend thanks to being sick on friday...I spent the day at the doctor's and pharmacy lol.  Life of a kid in a bubble lol -- well I'm not really a kid and no, I am not in a bubble.  I do however, have an unfortunate allergy-related respiratory problem (sounds more serious that it actually is!) that makes it sucky to go for long periods without my trusty inhaler.  lol. Anyways, enough of that...

I was able to get better over the weekend though, after some much needed rest, and my inhaler! :-)

Here's a recap of my weekend...

sunday errands grecian style: white dress and gladiator sandals

Happy Sunday!

Today I woke up to an intense heat as my room was engulfed with the afternoon heat bursting in from my windows.  It was only fitting as I had long been wishing for some sunshine and heat so that I can wear my summer clothes already lol.
I can honestly say that the one choice on my birthday weekend in Vegas has been such an important one since the sun started to shine around april....My ray-bans are godsend! The polarized lenses are actually my faves and unfortuantely, have resulted in my neglect of my Chanel sunnies.

Weekend: fun in the city and gladiator sandals

Whenever the sun is out, count on me to be out with it! I love enjoying the city during spring/summer days when the sunshine is out on full force.

The day was beautiful --full of promise and the air crisp.

We got up early on saturday to get to Meat and Bread for some brunch.  Trust me, it is so worth the trip!

Countdown to summer begins...

So even though I am going to have a slightly boring summer this year due to academia (higher learning folks!) I will still try to enjoy the sunshine as best I can.

I've already started preparing for summertime when I went on a small shopping spree last night!

check out my new summer purchases...

Rachel Zoe: lovin it.

I am not a shopaholic by any means...(i know, when someone starts a sentence like that it sounds like a lie lol) no really, i'm not.  I have my moments when finding the it article of clothing pushes me on a hunt all over town scowering until I find it.  I don't mean the it clothing meaning trendy--just what i deem to be the perfect one for me.

I went through this two years ago when I became slightly obsessed (not like crazed fan obsessed) with finding the right romper.  I finally found it only to find out there's no size at BEBE and by the time I was convinced that it was the perfect one for me, it was all sold out! (wtf right!?).  I think it may be partially due to my OCD nature, wanting things a certain way to the point of going crazy lol.

I am currently on the hunt for two things, coincidentally from the same designer: Rachel Zoe.

Baptism: Cream suit and lace

Hola!

Mondays are always a drag, though the fact that it's sunny today (and possibly through the week!) is a silver lining in my book.

Last saturday, as I have mentioned in one of the entries below, I went to a baptism at St. Andrews Church.  Can i just say that people should think about making baptisms slightly later than say, 10am?? omg, talk about people that look like they just dragged themselves out of bed! lol.  I felt slightly overdressed sitting near a man that was just wearing a hoodie and jeans. Whatever happened to the days when people actually dressed in their sunday's best for church and especially for baptisms??

To check out which outfit I ended up wearing read on!

Baptism: Fresh whites

This weekend --or this saturday rather, I will be attending a baptism for my cousin's son whom I have yet to see lol.  It seems like a last minute quickie baptism before the family all leaves for a wedding in the phils...

read on to see my options!

Workwear Inspiration: Holts Muse black and white

courtesy of Holts Muse
Errmehgerd..This is so my puuurr-fect work outfit! lol.  I am so inlove with the black and white with a pop of red.  Its's so tastefully done! I am loving everything from the Giorgio Armani Bag in red (sooo cute!) to the peplum three-quarter length blazer.  The blazer is the basic black but the style is anything but basic! I was hesitating to purchase a striped skirt as I thought it would be somewhat difficult to find pairings for it, but this has convinced me! lol.

Where do you get your outfit inspirations?

Casual Shopping Day: Nautical Blue stripe and jeans

Beinga 9-5 working gal, I rarely ever get to head out on weekdays anymore.  Gone are the days of mis-spent youth meeting up with friends after work as my favorite thing to do nowadays is couch-potatoing at times with the bf and catching up on PVR'd shows from nights prior.  Getting older, it slows you down abit lol.

Saturdays are my usual days of heading out --shopping and galavanting all around downtown either by myself or with my cousin.

Crazy for gingham

Hola!

Happy sunny monday, all!

There is nothing more fitting in life than trying to get back up after a setback. I wanted to quickly say that my thoughts and prayers have been with the people of the Boston Marathon and those in the areas in Massachusetts that were affected by recent events.  The best way to show those that have tried to hurt us is to get back up and keep on living....It's easier said than done, but with the help and support of neighboring states, and country, I know that Boston will be able to rebuild and be stronger from this...as a person with tremendous love for one's city, I see the love that the people of Boston have for their city that they will easily rise from this with a stronger will and resolve.

I hope that everyone is enjoying the sunshine at some point in the city....The cherry blossom trees are in full bloom in some parts of Vancouver!  I've been in the full spirit of spring--wearing my pastels and cropped boyfriend jeans...all that's missing are sandals and maybe shorts are not far behind? i hope so!

Lately I've been obssessing over gingham.  The print is so spring/summer! I am loving the different shades of pastel that it comes in.  I recently purchased two colors from Abercrombie and couldn't be more happy!  I bought the Felicity shirt -- a button down that is slightly more fitted.  It was regularly $64 but on sale for $29.90 and so i picked up both the yellow and pink.

Can i just say that I love love love this shirt!

I wore it for casual fridays at work with a high-waisted pair of jeans and ankle boots (it rained in the morning so it seemed appropritate to wear boots lol) It's pastel color is just right for springtime, and it even kinda looks --dare I say 'a lil' bit country'? lol.

I was so loving the outfit that I transitioned it for a casual night out with the bf.  I changed from boots to heels thinking that it was a dry enough afternoon (and the sun briefly came out!) to transition into the night.  Alas, my prediction was wrong as it rained heavily into the night (what do I know right?) but I still loved my outfit!

One can only dream...

Okay, so I told my bf one night that I wanted a Chanel Flap bag.  Yes, I wanted one.  I wanted to own a 2.55 Lambskin Black Chanel Flap bag badly.  I thought I was as crazy as the way he looked at me in my pursuit to owning one.  Vintage, pre-owned or new --I didn't care.  I wanted the end result of me having one of those precious babies in my hands and ownership.

I've heard it all before, people that have told me 'there are ways of having the bag without the eye-gauging prices' they say, referring to the ever-more popular timesharing that you can pay for the time you have it and then send it back.  Would I really want to send the Chanel Bag back once it was in my possession? that would take considerable will-power let me tell you!

So I set out to find ways of owning one without the traditional 'all in' bankrupt or selling my soul (much less, my first born).

I really thought that my sanity had gotten the better of me when i tried rationalizing lol.

Enter Purseblog...it's like a choir of angels harmonizing in tje background and the clouds parting! If you are a Chanel fan and tip-toeing on the border of 'to buy or bot to buy' then this is the blog entry for you.

Vancouver Fashion Week F/W 2013!

Guess what time of the year it is again!? um no, not christmas lol...though, it might as well be--for fashionistas! It's Vancouver Fashion Week! After seeing the various Euro Fashion Week fashion and NY Fashion Week on various magazine spreads, it's Vancouver's turn! Granted, our Fashion Week isn't quite at the same level that New York Fashion week is, but we still take our fashion very seriously!

Fashion From the Movies: Sex & the City Maxi

Ever watch Sex and the City the movie? If you have then you'd know for certain where this scene is from.  Call me crazy, but I love the episodes (which thankfully play on syndication on Cosmo!) and the movie.  I loved this Halston heritage maxi that SJP's character Carrie Bradshaw was sporting at a beach in Abu Dhabi.  Unfortunately this dress would require serious coinage as it is part of the Halston Heritage brand that SJP herself used to sit on the board of!

Fear not! I did find this dupe (if you will) of the dress.  Granted it does not have the cascading train of hers in the movie (as she preferred not to hem hers I guess) but this Forever 21 dress looks just as gorge as hers does!  At the price of $39.80 its a great deal!  This dress came in mint and a color similar to SJP's, coral.

Spring Break!

Surfing on the Abercrombie website, I happen to realize two things...

1) Spring is fast approaching and that means it's time to hit the gym once again lol

2) Vancouver Fashion Week is upon us!

What's everyone's spring faves? I'll post a few of my favourite things soon!

Well hello there, sunny day!

I am delighted to welcome one day of sunshine into a week that will turn very quickly from what the weather network has predicted.

Vegas Birthday Weekend: Day Two

During the day, we explored the sites before heading to the outlet mall for some major retail therapy!  we checked out the Palazzo, Venetian and got as far as the Wynn and Encore to see if we could get gueslist for XS or Lavo but were unsuccessful.

Vegas Birthday Weekend: night one, Tao!

My birthday this year started off with a bang! A last minute trip to Vegas was very much needed and well-deserved!  LV and i have had a love affair for years that started with my 24th birthday, and ever since then I've been a faithful visitor around my birthday every year.  Sadly I stopped on my 30 --with disastrous results *sad face*.  Nevertheless, I came back, and I had tons of fun!

Ain't Easy being Green: Utility Jacket and Flats

Typical Rainy tuesday and I had to do some errands...Could the weather be any crappier!!? lol..Life, lemons and all, you know the saying.

I usually dress comfortably when I run errands so as not to deter from getting all the things on list! to check out what I wore...

hello, hoarder.

Retail therapy anyone? lol.

Hello, I am a shopaholic.  I peruse windows thinking I can resist, and then the urge kicks in! haha.

Disaster Zone

Disaster zone, thy name is bedroom....

Last night approximately around 10:30 PM, I heard creaking --faint at the start, then a little louder.  I swear it was like one of those moments when right before something crazy happens, you experience a defeaning silence, as if to pause for effect.  The silence lasted a minute then bam! i heard a huge noise in my closet.  My shelf had collapsed from the weight of all my clothes!

...Ugh, another thing to fix at home over the weekend *sad face*

Happy friday indeed.

It took two hours to clean up the mess and ensure that the collapse won't damage my clothes or anything else.

Birthday Weekend! Vegas Edition

I must admit, I'm not so much of a wordly traveller.  I've been a few places here and there --falling in love with a couple of cities and just never stopped coming back.  My first love will forever and always be, Vancouver --home to me since early on in my adolescence.  No matter where I've been in the world and what I've experienced, there is literally nothing like coming home.  With that said, one of my favorite cities to frequent (every year for four years at one point in fact) is Vegas!  It has everything I look for  --excitement, sights, shopping, nightlife, great places and the list goes on.

This year, being over the hill in my mind lol I decided that Vegas was the place to be.  Albiet last minute, I intended to take every moment to savour (and not rush!) but to enjoy the experience.  It was definitely different this time around, not focusing so much on the partying (even though we still did party) but to experience what else Vegas has to offer.

I will post some pics and the rest of my vegas story sooooon!

stay tuned.

TGIF: falsies do's and don'ts

Hello all, Happy Friday!

Is anyone as excited for the long weekend as I am? thank goodness for an extra stat day this year, Family day!
:-)  Hey, any excuse away from work is a good excuse to me!

...i digress

So my weekdays are filled with quiet days at home or running errands for the week until the weekend comes when, once in awhile, they are filled with some fun times with friends.  During the weekends is when I am at my best for fashion and beauty since I have more time.  One thing i've recently got into is false lashes...

There's actually a story about that if you have the time to read after the jump!

Beauty: blue smokes

feelin blue...smokey eye that is.

Just wanted to stray from my weekday warm browns smokey look.  Let me know if you want details on how i got the look! :-)

The Crisp White shirt and Oxblood

Every once in awhile i manage to get dressed up for work; today was one of those days.  i guess it doesn't come to often when co-workers sound surprised lol.

The reactions ranged from surprise to funny but flattering comments!

Beauty: date night makeup

Happy Monday!

My makeup for friday night during date night!
Last weekend was fun yet chill.  It started with date night, walking around robson on a chilly night and concluded with KFC lol.  Date night in is sometimes just as fun as heading out!  I still got myself all did even if we were just taking a stroll.  It doesn't hurt to get all dolled up for one night to make an effort!

Houndstooth

The days just seem to get colder no matter what the day brings --rain or shine.

I felt like wearing a dress but didn't really want to get cold....I know I should have worn leggings but since I was spending majority of the day indoors and a heater handy in my office, I figured it would do no harm to go bare --legs that is lol.

Winter Whites

For the third week of work, the days were quite nice so I decided to wear light hues to match the gorge weather!  I love pastels and any chance I can incorporate it into even winter weather will do for me! I find that anytime you can transcend pieces from one season to another, even if it's not one after another (like fall/winter) then it's a good buy in my book!

Happy 2013!

Happy New Year folks!

I just thought I'd post what I wore for our annual familia NYE dinner.  Unlike the crazy dash last year of preparing for a family dinner and NYE hotel party we decided to lay low this year.  Since most of the 'kids' that went to the philipines were still still recovering from the jetlag, we were glad to have it just be about the familia.
Even thought the festivities were kept to a lower decibel it didn't mean that I wouldn't get ready as I usually would for any other family party!

I also included other holiday snapshots!

2013: Year of the Snake

Joyeux Noel et Bonne Annee!

lol my french comes in handy--whatever little of it i still remember, almost dozing off of Mr. Y's class (sorry, Mr. Y! i really tried to pay attention! haha) In fairness I always thought i was abit weak in languages...I digress...
It's been awhile! I hope everyone had a great holiday and an even better start to the new year!

If anyone in cyberspace has noticed at all (i think life in cyberia went along just fine without me! *tear*) I have been MIA for the last few months --around the exact time I got a new job.  Yes folks, a new job --a day job.  Unlike Superman who rescues damsels in distress but still manages to be a reporter or Batman who crime fights at night and still manages to look dapper and make it on time to work, most mornings I feel lucky if I make it to the door of my work by 7:30am.  I know right!? who is up that early!  My life these days is consumed by numbers and payroll.

I am finally an adult *groan*. (don't get me wrong, my maturity level is about the same as if i was in highschool lol)

I thought I'd revisit my old stomping grounds, afterall i've been blogging for as long as i can remember...I've evolved from making my own pages in Yahoo to this...I will try from time to time to blog about life, fashion, love and everything in between that happens in my life -as always.

I hope this year will be a better year than last, and I am sure it will be!
