Hello, Tuesday! 'after a long weekend' blues. literally.

Bonjour mes amis!

I have no idea if that's even right lol.  Pardon et moi, my francais is a little rusty haha.  Rainy tuesdays, if there is anything else that can make you feel ho-hum about a day--it's rain!

I am in all my geeky glory today, sporting the all-important glasses :-) No, not for fashion.  It's unfortunate for me that while i chose the frames which were trending at the moment, it's an accessory that i can't live without most days.

The windows into my soul need focus hence the glasses! (i ramble).

It's not really a fashion related post, but if you must know, i am wearing (and taken in an unflattering angle might i add) Banana republic blue cable knit sweater.

baby, it's cold outside...

I was listening to news 1130am the other day on my way to work and heard that we recently reached the freezing point in the weather a couple of days ago and should get abit of snow with the next day or so...I'm not quite sure how I feel about that--on the one hand, I would love to see a bit of snow before winter ends, but on the other, it would make getting around slightly hard with all the dirty snow afterwards...

I went out tonight for dessert with my bf and decided to bundle up since it's fairly cold out tonight...

It's still possible to look cute amidst the drop in temperature...the key is layering up!

I wonder how the people in prarie provinces like Alberta get through the freezing temps?

Christmas Party weekend!

This weekend was a crazy busy weekend filled with both mine and my boyfriend's work christmas parties.  The weekend started off with us rushing to get to River Rock Hotel & Casino, check in right away and then make sure that everything is set up at Tramonto Restaurant for the dinner.

Most everyone was late, and unfortunately my other boss didn't make it due to a personal reason, but all in all it was a great night and things went off without a hitch.  The field guys behaved themselves for the most part and we did our company name proud.

On Saturday, we went to my bf's work party at the Convention Centre downtown.  It was a little hard nursing a slight hangover from the night before but we made it on time to check in, relax and enjoy the room before rushing to get ready and getting down in time for the announcement to take our seats.  It was very different from my work christmas party as it was over 3000 people in attendance!  I had fun even if the headache didn't really go away.  The party was a success, and big enough that it included a football sized main area, and a small jazz lounge upstairs! lol.  It was an amazing night.

if you wanna see both my outfits and the rest of the pics...

Fall Must-Have #1: The Perfect Wool Blazer

Balmain blazer

Balmain blazer (see more double breasted blazers)
Balmain Liquorice Wool Blazer $3,330 cdn.  (via polyvore.com)

Okay, so if you're like me and you don't have the 3k to buy this oh-so-lovely blazer, there's always alternatives out there, an eighth of the price tag.

I find that wool blazers can pull double duty of giving a polished casual look and yet keeping one warmer as a jacket during the cooler fall days.  I purchased a wool flannel blazer last christmas which retailed for about $150 but it was on sale for 40% off! Just my luck that the sale was on the same time that there was one left in my size!

It's become such a staple in my wardrobe, that I've used to past winter and into spring!  It's truly versatile--it works with a work outfit, casual with jeans or even with a cocktail dress! For the price I paid, it was well worth it!
