Countdown to summer begins...

So even though I am going to have a slightly boring summer this year due to academia (higher learning folks!) I will still try to enjoy the sunshine as best I can.

I've already started preparing for summertime when I went on a small shopping spree last night!

check out my new summer purchases...

It was such a sunny day today, when I went to shop with my cousin at the Queensborough Outlets, I decided to dress for spring weather!

Casual Shopping Day: Nautical Blue stripe and jeans

Beinga 9-5 working gal, I rarely ever get to head out on weekdays anymore.  Gone are the days of mis-spent youth meeting up with friends after work as my favorite thing to do nowadays is couch-potatoing at times with the bf and catching up on PVR'd shows from nights prior.  Getting older, it slows you down abit lol.

Saturdays are my usual days of heading out --shopping and galavanting all around downtown either by myself or with my cousin.

Summer Tone on Tone:: Retail Therapy in Khaki!

I went to the mall for some cool down last night and for some retail therapy.  It was just a weird day all around and I just wanted to unwind with some window shopping.

From Paris via NYC with love - The Tulip Skirt

I am so inlove with this skirt -- it has a slight twist to the regular tulip skirt.  It was an awesome find at the BCBG outlet store while in NYC.  At first you don't think it works when holding it up --I had to take a second look, even try it on since it looked oddly mishapen when not worn.  Once I tried it on however, your natural shape fills the skirt,  draping of the fabric in all the right places and creates a wrap like effect.  It's like magic! the natural tulip shape of the skirt just appears as you wear it.

Weekend Haulage: BEBE

I had a great, relaxing weekend...the friday usual date night was postponed due to the bf's boys' giants game, but I saw him after so that was alright.  He made up for it by spending the whole day and night with me!  We had an early start to the saturday, with him wanting to rush over to NCIX to buy an SD card and a usb stick that was unfortunately out of stock...

We went from richmond to downtown.  It was chilly out since it snowed the night before.  It warmed up abit after a cup of coffee, and i got to pick up a few things I've always wanted to get from BEBE...

Winter Warmth

It's weird to think that winter only started three days before Christmas Eve! lol..the winter chill always gets around the beginning of December, then heightens during the 21st--Winter Solstace!

When i was younger, the finer the sweater was spun the better.  I hated chunky sweaters and of course, anything 'cable knit' was too frumpy!  Of course as I've grown older I've learned to appreciate the chunkier knits for their soft, comfy 'blanket-ish' feel.

Check out my two recent chunky sweater purchases for winter!

Boxing Day 2011: shop til' we dropped! (almost lol)

This is an annual tradition with my cousin for years now.   We join the thousands of shoppers in the annual tradition after christmas day to hunt for the best deals, otherwise known as Boxing Day!

This year we started earlier...It was necessary considering I had my eye on a few things lol.

To see what I bought...read on!

Happy Cyber Monday!

Happy Monday all!

I trust everyone had a great and fun-filled thanksgiving in US (for our neigHbors across the border) and that Canadians had their fill of Black Friday shopping--even scored some deals lol.  I stayed local this season, sadly, but still had a fun time with the cousin galavanting and window-shopping.

Sadly, there were no deals to be had within our own backyard...That's ok, I can wait til' Boxing Day! lol.

For those that aren't quite familiar, today is Cyber Monday.  Lots of great deals online to be had, but just be aware that there are also scams floating around from not so reputable dealers.

If you find a deal too good to be true, and it's not accredited or verified then i'd say it's not wise to go through with it!

Happy Cyber hunting!

Seattle Weekend Part 2

So this weekend my boyfriend and I went to Seattle for the long weekend once again.  It was only a month before that we'd gone but I needed to start on my xmas shopping and finding a dress for the back-to-back holiday office parties lined up in the beginning of December.

Unfortunately I was unable to accomplish the tasks I had set up for myself, but did find some amazing deals for what I call 'fall/winter essentials' !

Check out my mini haul after the jump...

Cold Weather must-have: Uggs!

Say what you will about them guys...I still love wearing 'em!

I loved my last pair of imitation uggs from aldo lol.  I wore it for 6 years or so and it served me well during my moments of frumpy errand-filled days....When we moved I knew that my Aldo boots days were numbered and I bought an actual pair of uggs the first opportunity I got!

Last ditch effort for summer wear!

I know I have said in the past that I would give up buying cutesy outfits from Hollister and Abercrombie because I'm getting up there in age, but I couldn't help it this time.

There was a sale at Hollister for their summer stuff, and of course with additional 30% off the mark-downs so I couldn't resist!
Tamarack Top - Sale price after 30% discount: $20.93

It's somewhat a cutesy top but can still work with nice trousers, so I decided to get it anyways.

I love sales!

Tuesday morning blues..

It's such a dismal morning...It really is beginning to feel like fall....

The Zara location of where I would normally do my shopping isn't open yet, so that's disappointing.

I cannot wait to do my Fall shopping!  It's weird it's around the same time I'm moving so I'd have to end up purging some of my other pieces which I don't wear.  I need to figure out how to make some $$$ back while doing it.  Of course I will still donate to the clothing drives, but I highly doubt that a clothing drive will appreciate my donation of a sparkly halter from BEBE as being practical!?

Behind closed doors: the fitting room dilemma

Decisions, decisions...

While shopping today, I decided to take some pics of some of the choices I brought inside with me to the fit room at Forever 21.  As always, I try to bring as many choices that catch my eye into the fit room, and then try them on.  I used to just bring one or two that I really liked, but when else will you be able to explore and find new things that you may otherwise not have known you liked? There's no pressure to buy, but it's nice when you have alot of choices and able to mix and match what you bring in.

Black V-neck rouched sleeve tunic.  Great for a date night or even with flat sandals (like i have here).  price? $12.50 I believe, great value! It can also be an LDB for the budget-weary.  Only Con? it shows every curve and lump lol.  Clearly i can stand to lose some poundage in some places.
Next up, royal blue cropped sweater with nautical gold buttons on the shoulder.  At $21.50, I was hesitant to purchase as the price seemed abit steep for a sweater that didn't even reach my waist.  It's a nice sweater though, nice material and cute.
Peach silk top, flowy on the bottom and quite cute! price? $27.90 still abit steep in my mind but it's not bad of a purchase.  Since summer is almost over however, the fact that it's short sleeve and looks more summerish, I didn't see the point on spending that much on something that's more for summer.
I saved the best for last! This blazer is $35.90--but I find it a great deal! it's perfect for work wear and can be used with different outfits!  I know I can get my money's worth on this.

There are alot of great pieces coming out right now, since the start of a new season is upon us.  It's important to keep in mind that some pieces, although cute, may not transition well into next season and may restrict the combination with different pieces and therefore not be worth the money in wear in the end.

Shopping like a postman...good times.

I felt like postman today...I went shopping with my cousin on Robson tonight intending to only go window shopping.  It literally changed weather multiple times--rain, hail and even a slushy snow, within the course of the night while we shopped.

Unexpectedly, I bought two shoes at BEBE.  I love them!

Also, today I used my new set of shadow refills from my second MAC Palette!

The hair was abit messy lol.

Face:
Revlon New Complexion foundation in Tender Peach
NYC Loose Setting powder
MAC concealer - NC30 (forgot which one)

Cheeks:
Nars Blush - Orgasm

Eyes:
MAC soft ochre paint pot
MAC silver ring e/s
MAC Moon's reflection e/s
MAC Deep Truth e/s
MAC Carbon e/s
NYC eyebrow set in brunette
MAC eyebrow gel - clear

Overall, a good night.  I had fun!

Forever 21 Haul and errands

beats:: rocketeer - far east movement and Ryan Tedder

OOTD:: Urban Behavior Black Racerback tanktop, White Hollister Henley and American Eagle Jeans with flats

fave fashion accessory of the day/moment:: my LV bag

I love sundays, even though it's like a doorway to the start of the work week.  It's when I get the most errands done (besides tuesdays) and I feel like only on this day when I accomplish the most.  I had more than enough time to get ready (and boy, did i take my sweet time!) and was able to do a purple smokey eye that was light enough to work for the daytime!

ugh my oily forehead...or maybe it's the lighting!?
 Yup, more than enough time....lmao.

Anyways, today I was able to bring my camel colored dress pants to the alterations for hemming.

I also managed to get abit of shopping done while running errands!

I was at Forever 21 and managed to get a mini-haul, all for under $40! sweeet! Anytime that I can get the most out of my money I'm happy!

Black pencil skirt $10.80
Striped 3/4 sleeved shirt $7.80
khaki skirt $14.50
Like I mentioned, the total came to just under $40.  I was able to pick up pieces to add to my wardrobe without spending a lot of money so I'm happy! lol.

I should also mention that I was able to pick up a steal at superstore for my ball of foot cushions, still at $3.99 9 (regular price is $10.99).  I ended up picking up 4 since I use it for virtually every high heel that i use!

All in all, it was a steal of a day for everything from clothes to necessities.

What a blessed sunday! =)

New year, new beginnings!

My first official entry in the New Year!

It's three days into the new year and I've already broken one of my resolutions--not to spend so much! lol.  Actually, this one was pre-christmas so I guess it's okay.  I noticed that after several hours clearing my closet and organizing it, I realized that I had way more clothes than I anticipated! Instead of buying more clothes, I've traded up for accessories  which I see I also have no shortage of!

It's like trading up another obsession for another lol Oh, a shop-a-holic's life...

I am usually not one for animal prints much...a snakeskin skirt and pair of shoes--that's pretty much it.  I don't even think I have any leopard prints in my closet really.  I mostly stick to solids and stripes, thinking about it now. Weird.

I have always associated leopard prints with Peggy Bundy and her infamous fashion in 'Married with Children' and so I have decided long ago to steer clear of it and any other lycra-looking and neon colours or any animal prints that will make me look like her(unless of course it's halloween).  Lately however, I've noticed that more and more celebrities have gravitated towards animal prints, but, thank goodness--have styled it so it's more chic than tacky.  I have decided to give it a try myself, opting for more of a smaller accessory to start with as an accent piece rather than an article of clothing.  Well, I would've also tried a leopard print cardigan, or a pair of Louboutin booties like Kim Kardashian's!

I found this belt from Jacob not too long ago.  It was a great deal I may add--regularly $29.90 and 50% off...I looOoVe sales! =)

I think that with trends, one has to be careful not to go crazy and become an ultimate fashion NO.  Wearing leopard doesn't mean you have to end up looking like an actual leopard!  Animal print is a great way to give your outfit a pop without adding big, bold colors to it.  It still looks classy without blinding anyone!

Who would've thought that Leopard print would be classy!? much less chic for the office wear!?

new year, new trends, new finds!
