Rain, Rain go away..

Fall is fast approaching and kiddies are groaning and moaning about back to school...I am superly excited cause the fall weather gets me so happy!  Of course the rain is not far behind as always.  It's even more evident when we get days like today, when the clouds are taking over the last of our sunny summer days.

Days like these make me think of rain--the muddy, crappy rainy weather that makes me feel like staying home! lol.  One way to make rain seem like not such a bad thing? Rain boots!

The front runners?  Burberry of course!

I thought about getting their signature tartan pattern, but opted for something more simple and less flashy.

Fall Must-Have #2: Cape crusading..

It's almost fall, and with fall comes in every growing need to pick up the few 'essentials' that I use all fall/winter long to survive the gruesome weather...Yes, overly dramatic i know, but since Fall is my fave season, I can never resist when it rolls around and I get to check out the new trends and styles to add to my collection.

Enter Vanessa Bruno Cape...

I have been inlove with capes since I saw a cream cape on Victoria Beckham look so luxurious and cozy-looking.  It's not so much the expensive part of it, its the cozy feel that it portrays while looking tailored and polished.

Seen here in the cream version sported by Kristen Bell, paired with over-the-knee boots and jeans is the perfect fall outfit!

Fall Must-Have #1: The Perfect Wool Blazer

Balmain blazer

Balmain blazer (see more double breasted blazers)
Balmain Liquorice Wool Blazer $3,330 cdn.  (via polyvore.com)

Okay, so if you're like me and you don't have the 3k to buy this oh-so-lovely blazer, there's always alternatives out there, an eighth of the price tag.

I find that wool blazers can pull double duty of giving a polished casual look and yet keeping one warmer as a jacket during the cooler fall days.  I purchased a wool flannel blazer last christmas which retailed for about $150 but it was on sale for 40% off! Just my luck that the sale was on the same time that there was one left in my size!

It's become such a staple in my wardrobe, that I've used to past winter and into spring!  It's truly versatile--it works with a work outfit, casual with jeans or even with a cocktail dress! For the price I paid, it was well worth it!

Fave fashion trend: tweeds

Okay, so I realize that with spring being just around the corner, there will be a changing of the guards--so to speak--of outfits.  Tweeds tend to be more of a fall/winter fashion staple, but I couldn't resist.

While on a shopping jaunt with my cousin, I found the tweed Guess cropped Betsy jacket that I have been searching at every store for!! Seriously--EVERY store...So when I happened to come across it at Richmond Center, i couldn't hesitate, I just had to get it!

Isn't it just gorgeous!? LooOoove! I have this craaazy love affair with cream, and to find a cream tweed jacket and so you can just imagine just how perfect this was.
The detailing of rope trim on the sleeve and bordering the edge of the jacket and around--so love!
I love the cream tweed fabric, and the shiny thread on the tweed makes it perfect for a night time outfit as well! I love versatile jackets.  It's all about double duty wear!! =)

Yes, I gush lol.  The best part? uh hello...I got it for under $40 on sale (also thanks to the $20 award for the loyalty points) while at regular price it would have cost me $168 before tax!

awesome deal.

More cape madness! lol

The cold weather is just pushing through here which makes me miss Vegas and its weather even more.  I am more than ever looking for warm, cozy clothes to fill my Fall/Winter Collection.  As usual, I am still obsessed about Capes and Ponchos.  While there are lots to choose from when it comes to wraps and ponchos, the structured cape/coat is somewhat elusive.

In comes Zara.

I was checking out the website and found these two breath-taking Capes that are both under $200.

Hazzah! I love Zara...It's affordable work clothing that is also stylish and trendy.  You don't have to break the bank to look trendy and fashionable at work!

I was at Zara earlier today, but alas, did not see these.  I will be on the lookout on my next Zara excursion!

Trend #2: Military style

I've been seeing alot of influence from the military style for designers' fall collection-- namely Burberry Prorsum.  Christopher Bailey is a fashion genius! I loved the military influence in his collection, from his fur lined shearlings to the boots! pure combat fashion heaven.

Sometimes it pays to closet-shop before going to the mall to spend $$$ and ending up in doubles...I've been there, done that and I hate having multiples of something unless I absolutely love it--in that case, I love doubles!

In my rummaging, I've found a military jacket I've long owned, about 3 years now.  It has long since re-appeared back on the trends and I couldn't be more happy! There is nothing better than to hold on to an article of clothing and be vindicated that the years it spent in the closet collecting dust has paid off!

I bought this jacket on sale for I believe $20 at BB Blue.  It resembles this admiral Jacket from Forever 21 that costs $35.80. (fyi, I would never pair a nice cropped military jacket like this with a tattered pair denim shorts...it just doesn't quite go in my opinion...jus sayin.)

I've also recently purchased a long mini obsession of mine since it came out.  The military cargo pants in the skinny version has long caught my eye since it gives a more girlish take to the once baggy cargo pants.

I first saw it from Aritzia, which if you shop there you would know that it's going to cost an arm and a leg (like about 3 bills!) Not quite as easy for a workin' gal like me.  Plus, I'm not one to just buy something expensive and not end up liking it.  I decided to try other alternatives like going from stores like Sirens or Costa Blanca.

I ended up buying a pair from Urban Behavior and I must say, I'm quite happy with it.  I'm not looking for the brand name as much as I'm trying to find the perfect fit for me and what I'm willing to spend for.

It cost me $39.50 plus HST (damn you HST...bane of my existence!).

Long-sleeve Tunics? Love!

beats:: Bruno Mars - Just the way you are

I am so lovin' Bruno Mars and his latest song right now...I can't say that enough =)

*LOL* enough about my song gushing..

I am totally into dresses and tunics with sleeves right now *see post about edaline dress*  I find that we don't always have to show the twins to look sexy...Sometimes even just showing a bit of leg and cover abit more up top is just as appealing in it's own way.

me at Aubar Night Club
This lace tunic is from Forever 21.  It didn't have a slip underneath, so I used a nude slip tankdress underneath it.  I find that the nude against the black lace is alluring and sexy, sort of like showing bare skin against lace.

As previously mentioned, I also have the Edaline Dress which is more conservative but I find just as sexy in its own right.

Fall Trend #1: long-sleeve dresses

The leaves are falling, the mornings are colder and the days get shorter...It's a day away from Fall and I couldn't be happier!

I love Fall!..

I've been checking out the trends for the season, but not new to me, is the return of the long-sleeved dresses.  Fitted tunics or dresses that have longer sleeves...I find that it may eliminate having layers of bulky sweaters when indoors =)

some of my picks...

Marciano:

River Banded Dress
Lyla Dress
Opting for a 3/4 sleeve instead?

Drop Needle Cowl Sweater dress
Trista Tucking Dress
Arden B:

Foil Print Mini Dress

Tribal Pattern off-shoulder Dress

Forever 21:

Draped Knit Dress

Short-sleeved Sweater Dress

Suzy Shier:

Shirred front Keyhole back Dress
Tabbed Button Detailed Dress

So, whether it'd be for work or play, daytime to night, the dresses will show your sexy silhoutte without showing everything! For once, the decouletage is not out for show, focusing on your stems instead ;)
