Monday....funday? Maxi at the beach.

It was definitely a gorgeous day on monday, even when the clouds rolled in a little around 7pm.  The skies kept on parting for the sun as if to signal that it was summer and the sun was just going to shine no matter what.

We decided to go to the new Cactus club at English Bay for some appies and wine.  It was good times, we walked all the way down to the beach and then walked it off back to the car after!

I recommend going to this new Cactus Club --super gorgeous and the fact that it's right by the beach doesn't hurt either!

Cutting Edge: lasercut trends

One of spring/summer trends that I have been obsessing about recently comes from an old idea of the weave and wicker basket style patterns.  It's cute but much more intricate in detailing --laser cut designs.  It's been popping up in clothing patterns, shoes and other accessories.  It's so gorge!

The cuts can range in various patterns and the intricacies are just amazing!  It can also vary in prices so don't think that just because it's intricately designed, it's going to break the bank.  You'll see after the jump, that some of my pieces aren't so expensive, but the detailing makes it look pricier!

check out the accessories in my closet from this trend!

First Day of Summer - Summer Whites!

Happy First Day of Summer everyone!

It was a beautiful day worthy of the first day of summer and even though it eventually clouded over, we got good use out of the sunshine!

I decided to wear my summer whites in honor of the start of the season!

to find out what I wore, read on!

Shoe of the Day!

Today's shoe is from Guess --Myrick Shoe.

I am lovin' this for obvious reasons --at least obvious to me lol-- the two toned cream and gold is just so spring/summer! I've always loved the contrast cap toe shoes --i've got two, both from nine west! It's like colour-blocking with shoes.  I always love gold hardware so it was only natural to gravitate to these!

Happy Friday!

Time Warp: karmin

Ever heard of the suicide roll? err-- no it's not from a japanese menu nor is it some kind of death-defying act.  It's a hairstyle from what i gather from the 50s (can't quite verify at the moment) and it's cute in my opinion.  Along with the band Karmin's awesome sound came one of the band members --Amy Heideman.

Would you dare try a suicide roll?

It happened by chance: Dinner at oakwood

There was once a 'hole in the wall' type resto-lounge in the trendy but quieter part of west 4th --Tatlow's.  From what I remember of the times we had gone, it always seemed busy so imagine my surprise when we were headed there for our usual date night fridays and it was closed!

Fast forward a few years and we were in the neighborhood after my bf picked up hockey gear and decided to check out the restaurant that has replaced our old spot!

Saturday Stroll: Maxin' it up!

Saturday afternoon shaped up to be quite sunny for a bit.  I went for a stroll in the afternoon in downtown with my cousin while my bf recovered from the night before lol.

Date Night Fridays: The Wrap Skirt

I had been waiting for friday all week! lol

It was a nice but somewhat chilly night --dinner at Crave with hun and then off to enjoy the Vancouver Nightlife at our usual spot, Barcelona!

Day 3:: Fallon and Dinner in Flowy Bandage Dress

Day 3 was a personal fave of mine --I got to see a taping of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon!  He's hilarious as a SNL cast member and I've loved watching his shows when I can catch it so it was a treat to see him live!!! Unfortunately there were no cameras allowed in the premises so I have no photographical evidence lol...Although u can catch a slight glimpse of my bf and even me in one of the camera shots! lol.

After Fallon, we decided to catch a steak dinner at one of the better dining establishments --Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.  We got all dolled up and had a great time!

Yankees Game: Casual in Cropped Cargos

Day 2: Yankees Game

It was game day for us on day 2.  We had decided to make the most out of our trip by catching a Yankees Game.  It was NY Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals -- a game day that almost wasn't to be.  It was up in the air since the weather had been up and down for days with the rain coming in and out making the possibility of a rain-out happening.  Alas, the skies parted and it didn't rain! To top things off, the Yankees won!!! It was a surreal experience that I would love to have again...Love!

NYC: Departure outfit:: Utility Jacket and Boots

Departure day...or night.

We officially crossed the border at around 11pm, at which time we had several hours to kill before our flight. To me it seemed ideal seeing as how our previous trip to NYC went off to a shaky start with a red-eye flight leaving us super tired...

I decided long ago to dress comfy for this flight --i initially decided and wore my aritzia fair aisle lambswool sweater, but a few hours in while at the airport, it proved slightly warmer than anticipated.  Luckily, I had my jacket to switch to in case the occasion called for it....

to check out what I finally wore to our departure to NYC..check it out!
